It was so much fun last year that, we’re doing it again! I have reserved Lockhouse 25 on the C&O canal for Saturday, June 1st. I’m offering an open invite for anyone that wants to join. Lockhouse 25 is nicely furnished but it does not have electricity or plumbing. There is a portapotty outside that was well maintained last year and there is a water pump just down the canal (it’s well water treated with iodine). The lockhouse has 8 beds available but if we have more folks than that there is plenty of space for sleeping bags.

I plan to meetup at Dog Tag Bakery in Georgetown and bike from there. The ride is 30 miles from Dogtown Bakery to the Lockhouse and is at a chatty pace. If you’re not able to make it for the rollout it’s okay to meet us there. If you want to just come to hang out that evening (or bring everyone coffee on Sunday morning) that’s also okay. (The Cycling Classic Challenge is that morning which I know makes it tough for folks riding or volunteering.) We spent a lot of time last year sitting in the dining room exchanging stories and it was nice.

If you need help figuring out how to carry a sleeping back and other stuff on your bike, ask here.

    Details:
    Date: Saturday, June 1st
    Gather Time: 11 a.m.
Gather Location: Dog Tag Bakery in Georgetown for coffee/lunch – http://dogtagbakery.wixsite.com/dogtagcatering
    Rollout: Noonish

I hope you’ll be able to join.

The thread from last year includes some pictures and discussion after the ride (hopefully no rain on the ride home this year).

Nice… Coincidentally, since I started logging the time duration of every ride in my spreadsheet, my 2018 average pace (of all rides) was 13.93mph; so far in 2019 I’ve sped up apparently — I’m at 13.94 cumulative average right now…

There were some allegations that the person in the front was pushing the pace on the way out to the lock house.

Extra-eager to reach those 40 pounds of Cheetos I bet… must have been bitterly disappointed, until the Nature-Attacks portion of the trip took their mind off their sorrows…
