ParticipantInquiring minds (of those unable to attend) want to know — how’d the ride go? (Though perhaps nobody has cell signal out there…
Beautiful day for it — hope it was a great ride!

ParticipantThere were Cheetos:
I only took a couple of pictures. I’m sure Josephine will have some photos up from her camera. A few other folks took pictures too.

A great weekend overall. Weather was good. Conversation was great. I saw an owl. There were woodpeckers all around.

ParticipantThanks for organizing the ride and booking the lockhouse, Judd! That was tons of fun. Some of my favorite parts included the turtles of all sizes sunning themselves on logs, the ducklings and goslings in the canal, Joanne doing the baby shark song, the freshly laid gravel between Lockhouse 25 and White’s Ferry, fxbooks bringing banh mi for everyone, Steve O’s brownies, Smitty2k1’s excellent work getting the campfire going, the fireflies lighting up the woods, hearing frogs and woodpeckers as I was falling asleep and waking up, Sunyata meeting us on the way back, and the feeling when I finally got home and stepped into the shower.
Some pictures — group shot on Sunday morning:

ParticipantThe shower when I got home was pretty rad. As was the two hour nap.

ParticipantI’d be curious to hear what folks packed (but didn’t need/use) and what wasn’t packed, but was needed/missed…

Mine was so nice I even opted to take a second one later in the day!
Thanks Judd for organizing and thanks everyone for making me feel welcomed and a great weekend all around.
Once I’ve spent the next week cleaning dust off my bike I’ll be on the lookout for more events around town!

1) Packed – camp stove, didn’t need as many others also brought camp stove
2) Packed – food, drink, didn’t need as everyone else brought way more awesome food than me (ramen) and brought enough to share
3) Packed – tent, didn’t need as there were mostly enough beds, but I set it up anyways because dammit I dragged it all the way there
4) Packed – rain gear, didn’t need as it didn’t rain!
5) Packed – spare tube, didn’t need – NO FLATS
6) Packed – bluetooth speaker – plenty of those to go around
7) Didn’t pack – coffee, thank you Joann (Joanne?)June 3, 2019 at 1:41 pm #1098978Steve O

If you go with Judd, be sure to bring your noise generator with the jackhammer plug in.

I could have traveled way lighter on this trip but that’s because some unexpected things happened:
1. Didn’t need the hammock because there weren’t appropriately spaced trees.
2. Didn’t need most of the food I brought because Elaine made a bahn mi delivery for everyone for dinner.
3. Didn’t need the mattress pad because several folks slept outside so there was plenty of beds.I could have gotten by with just:
1. Toiletries
2. A sheet
3. A set of clothes for there and a fresh set of clothes for the ride homeI used a hip hydration bag for the first time and was very happy with it.

The only downside of the trip was how much Steve O’s snoring bothered everyone.

It was great to have you along. It’s really intimidating to show up at an event where you’re the new person especially in a setting where it’s hard to escape.

I used pretty much everything I packed. Tent, sleeping pad, pillow, camp chair, food. I could have skipped the tent and slept inside, but I wanted to use the tent. I also could use some lighter weight stuff so I wasn’t completely weighed down, but that’s an investment for later.

ParticipantSuch a great weekend – thanks for organizing Judd!
I rode out with only 1 pannier, so it didn’t provide a lot of space for extras! But I did bring some food and drinks that weren’t consumed (because Elaine is the best!). It did make me want to up my lightweight camping gear! And I WISH I had a sleeping bag liner because it was warm enough I didn’t really need my whole bag, but wanted more than sleeping without anything…
