It was so much fun last year that, we’re doing it again! I have reserved Lockhouse 25 on the C&O canal for Saturday, June 1st. I’m offering an open invite for anyone that wants to join. Lockhouse 25 is nicely furnished but it does not have electricity or plumbing. There is a portapotty outside that was well maintained last year and there is a water pump just down the canal (it’s well water treated with iodine). The lockhouse has 8 beds available but if we have more folks than that there is plenty of space for sleeping bags.

I plan to meetup at Dog Tag Bakery in Georgetown and bike from there. The ride is 30 miles from Dogtown Bakery to the Lockhouse and is at a chatty pace. If you’re not able to make it for the rollout it’s okay to meet us there. If you want to just come to hang out that evening (or bring everyone coffee on Sunday morning) that’s also okay. (The Cycling Classic Challenge is that morning which I know makes it tough for folks riding or volunteering.) We spent a lot of time last year sitting in the dining room exchanging stories and it was nice.

If you need help figuring out how to carry a sleeping back and other stuff on your bike, ask here.

    Details:
    Date: Saturday, June 1st
    Gather Time: 11 a.m.
Gather Location: Dog Tag Bakery in Georgetown for coffee/lunch – http://dogtagbakery.wixsite.com/dogtagcatering
    Rollout: Noonish

I hope you’ll be able to join.

The thread from last year includes some pictures and discussion after the ride (hopefully no rain on the ride home this year).

I think I still have my old sleeping bag. Otherwise the forum will likely be able to provide.

It’s at a lockhouse. You don’t need no steekin’ camping gear.

I was surprised at how well equipped the lockhouse was. You don’t need to bring any utensils or plates. I’d say a sleeping bag and food is all you need. I believe Komorebi always provides beer. :)

Then I will see exactly how many pounds of cheetos I can pack into my backpack inside of/around a sleeping bag

I’m planning to be there, and will probably bring a friend.

Actually, you don’t even need to bring food if you don’t want to. Poolesville is about 5 miles away and has an assortment of dining and retail options. Also a beer store. Not that I would know anything about that, considering that alcohol isn’t allowed on NPS property. ;)

I’m taking bets on an over/under of 40 pounds of cheetos.

Good lord, how much space would 40 actual pounds of Cheetos occupy!?
Man, speaking of… I really miss Chester Cheetos Cheesy Checkers from the late 90’s… Idealized surface to cheese dusting ratio!!

Not when you can cuddle up in a nice soft bed of orangey poofiness.

Wouldn’t that require snuggling in the orangey poofiness? NTTAWWT.
