Again, you have missed the point completely.
I don’t think so.
I know the difference between a photo of a model and the real world. I don’t consider a photo to be an expectation or standard.

I don’t think it’s a gender war, but if it is, I’m not sticking around.

ParticipantI withdraw my previous photo and replace it with this unmade-up face:

ParticipantI think it’s sexy that Rockford10 manages to wear a chainring mark on her leg all spring and summer. (I hope that wasn’t inappropriate…she is my wife after all.)

ParticipantI started college at St. John’s in Annapolis in 1970 (and got thrown out in 1972, but that’s a whole other story). A female classmate reports:
The boys had intramural sports when we were there. All boys were assigned to teams. Women were not welcome in the gym until spring of 1973, when a new federal law mandated equal sports opportunities for women. Girls’ soccer was started. I was made captain of a team because I was a senior, but I had never seen a soccer game and had no idea what the rules were. [One of the professors], who heartily disapproved of females doing sports, wouldn’t give us any instructions except that we were supposed to kick the ball down the field to the goal and not use our hands except for the goalie. It was a fiasco. I’m sure I was not the only one to suffer a broken bone.

ParticipantNo worries. Nowadays, “runner’s face” is seen as an equal-opportunity problem, for men and women endurance athletes.
A board-certified New Jersey plastic surgeon advertised his services in treating the dreaded runner’s face a few years ago:
“Runner’s face generally occurs in both men and women ages 40+ who exercise to improve their body, and in doing so end up with a skeletal and bony face. When exercising, an athlete burns off fat beneath the layers of his/her skin. The marked loss of fatty tissue results in a loss of volume which leads to a prominent appearance of the bones, accelerated development of skin laxity and deepening of wrinkles. Though you may look like a 20-year-old from the neck down—your face will easily give away your age.”

ParticipantThere was also some local North Carolina band with the name Bicycle Face. I never heard of them before an hour ago.

Interestingly, the drummer now runs marathons. I wonder if he suffers from runner’s face now.

ParticipantTo be fair the idea of Bicycle Face was put forth by a Brit, and lets face it…. British men and woman, young and old all suffer from some sort of bicycle face, it has something to do with our stiff upper lip….. and our medieval dentists.

Sounds like they were trying to blame bicycles for Brit Face.

ParticipantAfter looking at this thread, I’m surprised no one has mentioned the Bikeyface comic which I was introduced to by others on this forum and highly recommend: http://bikeyface.com/
While the artist might not have known about the “bicycle face” medical condition, she defines a bikeyface as:
it’s that face you make unconsciously when you bike…
…and see a good view…
…or a good friend…
…or getting a whiff of cinnamon from the bakery you pass every morning on the way to work…
…Because ultimately it’s not really about bicycles, it’s about enjoying life. There are more descriptions on the “What is a Bikeyface?” page, but I figure these work well enough.
