Any suggestions on the best route from the Anacostia Trail system to this office park in Greenbelt? Good Luck Road to the road through Greenbelt Park? Cherrywood to Breezewood to Greenbelt Dr?

I need to do it at rush hour. Am not above taking sidewalks where necessary in the last few miles. Thanks!

The Greenbelt-Kenilworth intersection is kinda horrible, so I would avoid it. Good Luck to the park is fine, but it’s a steep hill. I hear the sidewalk is wide and technically part of some heritage trail, but I’ve never gone that direction on Good Luck.

Alternatively, you go up Pontiac Street and into Westchester Park. At the back of the complex, there is a dirt trail that cuts over to the park. Pontiac is also steep, but it has much less traffic than Good Luck road.

It’s roundabout, it’s stupid, and it has some off-road sections, but here’s how I’d go. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2504953

You don’t actually have to ride on Greenbelt Road. Although it doesn’t show up on this map, there’s a dirt path from Branchville Ave to the Parking Lot at Chef’s Secret, and then you can follow around the back parking lot to Cherrywood lane to go left.

And there’s a sidewalk back under the beltway from Lakecrest Drive to the office park.

Traffic sewer hell out there — better to avoid, in my opinion and just go the long way around.

That said, if you go in the back entrance to Greenbelt National Park, that’s pretty good too, but like Ron said, some big hills. I’ve never tried the dirt trail/Pontiac Street route, that might be best…

Thanks Jeff and Ron – I ended up taking Pontiac to the little trail to Greenbelt Park there. On the way back, I took the road through Greenbelt Park down to Good Luck Rd. I preferred the Pontiac Rd. route. The little dirt path is only ~100 feet, and the route generally keeps you off of traffic-y roads.

The road in Greenbelt Park is a super nice bikeable road, lots of hills, but Good Luck Rd. is rough, I stuck to sidewalks at rush hour. Greenbelt Rd. is basically un-bikeable – Sidewalk only on the north side, no sidewalk on south side.

Here’s the entrance to the little trail at the back of the parking lot at Westpark:

The road in Greenbelt Park is nice:
