For all our forum members who have headed to the Outer Banks, please ride your bikes and be careful if you do something foolish, like decide to swim this week. Effects from TS Cristobal.

That’s funny; I had no idea — I am clearly living under a rock. I drove to the beach today with my son (N Assateague). Didn’t matter since he doesn’t swim and we had a blast on the shore / knee-deep, but I would have felt a little silly driving all that way otherwise.

I won’t lie, I did go in the water the day before and after Arthur in the OBX. But not for too long as the lifeguards were pretty adamant the day after about no one entering the water. The riptides don’t bother me (I also once did some lifeguard training in another lifetime), it was more the heavy surf that was annoying.

Just came from there (Corolla). Glad I did not take my bike. Too dangerous (unfocused tourists in oversized vehicles on narrow roads). Running on the beach, however, was a nice substitute.
