It seems counterintuitive, but Washcycle reports that the closed off streets around the Mall should be a fun place to ride this morning. I’m going to go check it out, but will avoid the areas where I might get doored by a portapotty.
Also, yesterday’s Washcycle had a job posting for WABA – they’re looking for someone to haul a bike trailer with tools around to install more bike racks in DC. That’s one more reason to join the Clif Bar 2 mile challenge. Raising $10,000 for WABA this month by signing up for that and logging each of our bike trips (no matter how long or short or how few or many) will help support WABA’s work in installing more bike racks in DC, among other things. The challenge only helps WABA for rides logged this month, so sign up soon if you want to help with this. 10,000 trips logged = $10,000 worth of benefits for us.
p.s. Big day at Long Bridge Park too, with family bike parade starting at noon. Prizes for best bike decorations. To get there, take Crystal City exit from the MVT bike trail, turn right at Crystal Drive and just keep going until you see the entrance to Long Bridge Park on the right. Easier to bike there than to go by car. There will also be shuttles from nearby metro stations. For details, go to http://www.Arlingtonva.us.
