Great way to kick off the National Bike Challenge!

I was actually thinking about organizing a ride for messengers to visit a friend in Baltimore hospital that day. Maybe we can merge with your ride.

The following day, May 4th is the annual Monument to Monument (M2M) ride out of Baltimore. Last year I rode to Baltimore with your group on Saturday and I attempted to join the Monument to Monument (Balt > DC > Balt) ride Sunday. I got a late start, met who I thought were the first riders coming from Baltimore, Isaias and Maxine. I rode with them about a mile when I spotted a small group of riders headed north on Edmonston Rd, including Justin Antos, and a couple other BikeArlington peeps. I U-turned again and joined them (uninvited, I didn’t even ask if it was OK :p) on a reverse M2M ride (DC > Balt > DC).

So I rode to Baltimore twice that weekend. This year I’m planning on riding to Baltimore three times. Saturday with you and/or messengers. Sunday I plan to leave early enough to get to beginning of M2M in Baltimore by 8. I was thinking 4am start at Washington Monument if others want to join me. If I’m solo I’ll start a little later from my place in Brentwood. Are you sure it’s only 2.5 hours? I thought I should allow 4 hours from downtown, 3.5 from my house. It takes me about 30 minutes to get to Proteus.

Oh, I just received invite to Kill Bill on May 4. I’m tempted but I think that ride is a little too tough for me. I think M2M suits me better but I might change my mind. Probably not though. If anyone wants to join me for double round trip M2M (probably around 300k) I’ll do M2M2M2M. If I can’t get any suckers to join me, I’ll most likely do it anyway. :)

This is a great ride to a fantastic event. If you are able to go, you should.
