Hey guys – I’ll be staying in Baltimore for a wedding this weekend and was hoping to get out Saturday morning for a 20-30 mile ride. We’re staying at the Inner Harbor so ideally I’d start my ride from the hotel and not have to drive anywhere.

I’m aware of the Baltimore-Annapolis trail and the BWI trail. Is there anything more scenic/exciting I should be looking at instead?

    Thanks!

Those two trails are your best bet. Really nice trails. BWI has a nice overlook of the airport. I wouldn’t describe either as scenic compared to some of the things I’ve seen on a bike, but they also aren’t gross dirty city looking.

Take the light rail up to Hunt Valley and then ride the trail to the PA border!

You can use the East Coast Greenway route to find relatively safe passage through and out of the city itself. For example, it’s possible to follow the ECG through Baltimore Harbor and south to where it connects with the BWI and B&A trails mentioned above.

Patapsco Valley State Park, Avalon Area. Scenic, wooded with a river running through it. Get there via Annapolis Rd, Hollins Ferry Rd., Hammonds Ferry Rd., W. Nursery Rd., Furnace Ave., Levering Ave. to River Rd. Want to climb? Grist Mill Trail can be a little crowded but accesses Hilltop, Thistle, Bonnie Branch, and the toughest, Ilchester. You can make loops of Hilltop/Thistle and Bonnie Branch/Ilchester. Lawyers to Montgomery, to Hanover to Ridge is another nice loop in that area.
