ParticipantGood Morning Team 18! I joined FS to get myself outside away from work & boost my spirits. I know 2 people that did this previously and decided to try it. I met Olive (👋) on our team in 2021 riding the MBT. I live in NE DC and ride the same routes over and over. 3-6 slow miles a day for me.

ParticipantGood morning! The teams are more localized this year. iCool that you’ve met a teammate! I’m in Brentwood, MD. Would you like to do a team ride Friday or Saturday?

ParticipantHello team! I joined FS to meet more bike lovers and get out riding this winter. I am a law student and live in NE DC (H St Corridor). My main passion is mountain biking, but since moving to DC I primarily ride road. I am super excited to meet everyone and would love to set up some regular rides!

ParticipantHi, team! Nice to “meet” you. This is my 4th freezing saddles. The first year my kid begged me to sign up so she could compete in the #withkid pointless prize. And I stuck around because the games deepened my appreciation for finding different neighborhoods and sights and businesses and art and monuments and parks and all the whimsy that could be found in the area on two wheels. It also got me to try fat tire biking on trips to snowier places.
I’m mostly a functional rider, using the bike to get where I need to go, now with the added challenge/benefit of working from home most of the time. My goal is to average around ten miles a day.
The one year I was part of a winning team, we didn’t have any top 10 or 15 riders, but we did get out there every day, so remember that every mile– especially the first one–counts a lot! Then once you’re out there, might as well keep going, at least that’s what I tell myself.

ParticipantHi everybody!
My name is Marco. I am originally from Mexico City but I’ve lived in the US since 2012. Most of that time I lived in the Tysons Corner area. I moved to Columbia Heights in 2021 after I got married. I absolutely love the city.
When I moved to DC, I bought my first bike as an adult to run errands around the city and commute to work. I fell in love with it. I few months later I was back at the bike shop buying a road bike. Although most of my rides are of the utilitarian type, I enjoy long rides on weekends.
I joined the competition in hopes of meeting other cycling enthusiasts in the area. I would love to go on a ride sometime.

ParticipantHello, I’m OliveA. This is my second time participating in Freezing Saddle (2022). Maneuvering throughout the Forum is just as confusing for me as the first time so if I don’t always respond to team requests in a timely manner please know that it is not intentional.  Thanks, Janet for providing this link.
My goal for this year is to become a more consistent cyclist when riding my hybrid bike during winter.  I plan to ride 10 miles daily  which is a far cry from my 3 mile average last time.  I also have an ebike that I will use when riding with my Ebike Lovers group once a week.I look forward to getting together with all of  team 18.  I had the pleasure of meeting Rebecca a while back.  I especially look forward to meeting our fearless team captain.  I have heard about Rod for years.  He is legendary in the biking community.  I think we must be pretty lucky group.

ParticipantHello! I’m Celeste and I’ve just joined to replace a cyclist who had to withdraw. I live in Baltimore and have been riding 5 days a week, mostly short rides, though I like to get in a 10-miler when possible so I can participate in #publicartfinder. Previously I have been a spring and fall rider averaging 2-3 rides and 50 miles per week and mostly putting my bikes away in summer and winter. I have been greatly enjoying much shorter rides, doing the quirky challenges, and getting out there more often. I love a kooky competition!
