Well, well, well… you’ve made it this far. Now all you need to do is ride your bike. Easy-peasy.

    Welcome to Team 22!

My name is Brian and together we’re going to make 2021 happen.

    First, a few things….

    * Please join the Team 22 Strava Club here: https://www.strava.com/clubs/BAFS2021Team22. This is an invite-only club so you’ll need to request access.
    * Consistency is the key to this challenge, so ride the bike every day… even if you can’t get a full 10 miles, one will make a huge difference to the team.
    * Team name! We need a name for T22, what’ve you got?
    * Team communication – we can figure out a way to communicate once everyone has joined. (Strava / imsg, etc.)
    * If at any point you don’t feel like you can continue with BAFS, reach out to the team we won’t judge you. Wait, yes we will, but it may be possible to give someone else an opportunity to participate.
    * Finally, make us proud and have fun, but please be safe out there. (I would say use your common sense, but anyone with common sense would not have registered)

Oh! I almost forgot, with COVID, it’ll be tricky, but I’m hopeful that we can setup rides for everyone to participate in comfortably. This will be my fourth year doing BAFS and I’m excited to get to know you all.

Drop a line about yourself in the thread below.

My name is Brian Miller and this is my fourth year doing Freezing Saddles. I live in MoCo just north of Silver Spring with my wife, two daughters and my dog, Juno. All of the aforementioned think I’m nuts for doing this, but have learned to adapt to rides at strange hours in the blistering cold. The kids keep me busy, especially with virtual learning, so a lot of my rides take place at night, early mornings or on the weekends. I really love riding at night, I find it peaceful and enjoy the solitude of open roads and no traffic.

Would anyone participate in a team night ride?

FUN FACT: For COVID, I’m working remotely, but normally work in DC. Last year I used Capital Bikeshare rentals to get in @300 FS miles which included an HP lap.

I’m Libby. I’ve FS for 5 years now (well, 4, because one year I got injured and had to drop out). I live and work in DC. I’m in my last semester of classes for my doctorate in psych, so I would love reasons to leave the books and come out to play. Also, I’m extroverted and I love people and new friends, and all this alone time is not so good!!

I foster for HRA, so at any moment I might have a new cat coming or going.

Hi everyone, I’m Laurie Ellis. This is my 5th year doing FS and I love riding in the winter, it keeps me from getting sick. I am a League Cycling Instructor (LCI) certified by the League of American Bicyclists. I teach private, League and WABA’s learn how to ride classes, bike safely classes and confident riding classes. Since the pandemic, I been teaching lots of private lessons. I am on the leadership team of a local biking group, Black Women Bike: DC and I advocate for better biking infrastructure and safe streets for everyone. Like Brian, I love riding at night.

I’m Ted, you’ll find me in the Alexandria area as I live and work in the Groveton area. Most of my miles are on pavement, though I do enjoy the opportunity to ride the mountain bike trails near my home.

I work at Mount Vernon hospital as a recreational therapist, and I find that biking is my own therapy.

This is my 5th year with fs, and I think it is one of the things I look forward to most this time of year.

Hope to see the rest of my teammates out on the roads in the coming months.

I’m Merlin, sorry I missed the happy hour but I was on birthday duty. I live in Takoma Park, work(ed) in DC; this is my second FS though I’ve been a year-round DC commuter (missing the CCT) for a decade. Love riding in the rain and at night.

Found you! I’m Suzanne Knight and I grew up in Garrett Park MD (next to Kensington), went to college at GW and live in Manassas, so I ride everywhere. I love the city and the Indian Head Rail Trail. I just had hip replacement surgery two months ago (it’s outpatient and you just go back to your life) so I’m building my speed back up. I’m glad of the incentive to ride that comes from the competition. I’m an engineer so I have a lot of flexibility to ride whenever. Let’s get after it!!!
