Do you like to bike? Do you like distilled spirits? Do you feel excluded by #BAFS2019beerneuring or #BAFS2019wineuring? If so, this side bet is for you. The rules are simple:

    1. Ride your bike to any distillery for at least a Sleaze ride.

    2. Drink spirits at that location.

    3. Take a picture of the spirit (literally speaking, that is).

    4. Makes notes on said spirit.

    5. Post on this thread the picture of the spirit, the location, and your tasting notes. It can be anything, like “the spirit was clear and I liked it” or something sophisticated like @rcannon100 would say that we wouldn’t be able to comprehend. Extra points to those who use the above hashtag and name/number their spirit rides, otherwise we might be too full of the spirit to credit your entry.

    6. Whomever posts entries from the most number of distilleries by the end of Freezing Saddles wins!

    7. The winner will receive a bike ride tour of DC distilleries led by the prize sponosors, or a bottle of spirits of the sponsor’s choice if injured and unable to ride.

    A few further clarifications:

    1. BE SAFE! No riding while under the influence. If you rode your bike to the distillery but find that you need to get a ride or take Uber/Metro home, the entry still counts. Note: I had to do this after failing to be able to ride my bike after my first DC distillery tour led by those less responsible than myself. This was before the age of Uber (for those millennials out there).

    2. You can go to more than one distillery on a ride, but see previous rule.

    3. The spirit must be made at that location where consumed.

    4. Some distilleries have more than one location. A trip to each location counts.

    5. Keep in mind that this competition is to visit the most number of distilleries. Once you visit a distillery and consume their spirit, then you cannot post another entry for that distillery, even if you go back later and try a different spirit.

    6. It is not required, but try to go on at least one distillery tour. Fun, educational and you usually get to sample spirits.

    7. In case of a tie, the winner will be the cyclist who visits the most distilleries while cycling the LEAST amount of miles.

    8. These rules are arbitrary and subject to change on the whim of the sponsors.

This pointless prize is jointly sponsored by @BoomerCycles and @BeachFelipe but we may consult with others in case of any need for interpretations of above rules.

I’m rapidly getting the idea that Freezing Saddles is a drinking club with a bicycling problem.

I’m not the one with a problem! I can stop riding my bicycle any time I so choose!

Can I double count Sunday’s ride since I got both cider and rum on it? If so, I shall post my hot buttered rum picture and a review of it’s deliciousness…

That would require collusion between the sponsors of those 3 pointless prizes which might run afoul of anti-trust statutes….[emoji848]

I’m cool with that as it seems to be in line with rule 5 since cider is not considered a distilled “spirit” but rather a “brew” via a fermentation process instead. However this would require consent from the beerneuringmeister @sclaeys.

1/8 at Falls Church Distillers. They weren’t open to serve alcohol but they did offer to sell us a bottle, some of which was consumed on site.

Surprisingly smooth and clean tasting. I’m eager to try it in a proper G&T.

Will have to let you know when we head over there. I LOVE that place! And their bourbon is pretty damned tasty.
