I did suggest Goalposts, using the Score! gesture
D’oh! Apologies for misremembering.
I ride to eat, as you might have guessed from all of my food-themed ride suggestions, so I second Elevenses for our team name. But all of the other suggestions would be fine with me too.

Dumplings , donuts, happy hours lets schedule some stuff, old town and shirlington are my favorite locations.
This Saturday is going to be blustery and this Sunday is going to be cold, but does anyone want to go for a short donut ride anyway? I was thinking of starting at the Sugar Shack on Columbia Pike in Arlington, going to the Sugar Shack by the Braddock Road station in Alexandria, and then swinging over to the Duck Donuts in Bradlee/Fairlington. It’d be about 9 miles, although people are welcome to join for just part of the ride. I’m flexible on timing. Let me know if there’s interest.
And stay tuned for details on an upcoming dumpling ride and a pie ride.

Team 14 wants in on that pie ride. We will trade you an invitation to a beer ride.
Done! Will be in touch to work out deets.

ParticipantOr something with “Once” (i.e. 11 in spanish) …
I kinda like Elevenses too. Or just “second breakfast” ?

Team 14 wants in on the donuts too. Sugar Shack has an Elvis donut this month.

It appears Team 14 wants in on all the high caloric rides.

Sounds good, Saturday should be better for me than Sunday, at this point. AM preferred.

Shhhh. Don’t give away my secret plan for keeping rival teams from reaching racing weight.
Joking aside: even if a ride is billed as a food/drink ride, feel free to join just to do the ride, without partaking. I’ve done beer rides where I didn’t drink any beer, and coffee rides where I didn’t drink any coffee. The point of the ride is to have fun and meet your fellow BAFS participants; the food or drink is just a convenient excuse to make that happen.

Participant@komerebi, apologies if I missed it, but did you already setup the Strava group?
Nevermind: Jon had already even added it to the website/leaderboard!

Regrets for this weekend as I plan to be out of town to go visit my Mom and family (though I will take my bike to at least sleaze ride). Please have a 3rd “Elvis” donut on my behalf!

ParticipantI can make a Saturday donuts ride work, as long as it’s not too early (I’d like to get SOME sleep since it’s the weekend after all…but a 9 or 10am start would work for me).
And elevenses sounds like a great team name, especially since all the ride theme ideas right now deal with food and drinks

ParticipantHey all –
First time doing Freezing Saddles, and am pretty psyched to be on such an awesome team. Quick intro – I’m Adam… I’ve been bike commuting to DC since 2010 (previously in NYC since 2003), and recently upped by mileage big time by moving south along the MVT to Fort Hunt. I’ve done a bit of racing, but lately have preferred just riding. My availability for team rides, coffee clubs, donut rides, pie rides, etc. is cramped a bit by expectations set by my 4-year old, 2-year old, and arriving-in-May-so-zero-year old, but am up for en route happy hours, organized commute/convoys, and that sort of thing. Basically looking forward to friendly competition and getting together socially with other riders.
By the way, all good team name suggestions, but I’ll second (third? fourth?) “elevenses”.
Adam

Participantlong time winter commuter, I am the dork on the Jamis wearing a yellow helmet and the mount Vernon trail patrol vest. I commute from Maryland over the Woodrow Wilson bridge to mount Vernon trail to Four mile run trail then up the hill to Mark Center. I try to ride both to and from work but on icy mornings my husband drops me off and I ride my bike home. Hope to be able to meet up at some events, I generally will meet you places as I do not like to ride fast, I like to look around and enjoy the ride. But I do love Happy Hours, donuts, eating. etc. I ride so that I can eat. Mostly eat Vegan but will occasionally let cheese slide if I cannot avoid it. Try to eat healthy but ride so I don’t have to be crazy about it. Love Fireball.

ParticipantAll right, it sounds like there’s interest in a donut ride on Saturday morning. Let’s meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Sugar Shack in Arlington, at 1014 S. Glebe Rd. The plan is to also hit the Sugar Shack at 804 N. Henry St. and then the Duck Donuts at 3610-F King St., but we can play it by ear. The planned route is about 9 miles, with a few gentle hills; social pace, no drop. It’ll be windy and in the low thirties, so keep that in mind. I’ll also cross-post to the fsdonut thread and the FS calendar.
If you can’t make it on Saturday, we’ll have plenty of other team events, so don’t worry. Are people free for a team happy hour on January 24 or 25? I was thinking that Northside 10 (at 10 E. Glebe Rd., not too far from the MVT-4MRT junction) might be a reasonably central place for a team happy hour. But if another time or place would work better for you, please speak up.
One final housekeeping matter: we’re down to one missing team member, Lt. Dan. I’ve emailed him, but if you know him, please encourage him to sign up for our Strava club.
