Yes, but you have to ride a balance bike the entire 100 miles.

Balance bikes are so 21st century. As a child of the 1960’s, I insist on training wheels, whatever Steve says.
Also I want the entire way lined with old people sitting on lawn chairs, because they lack central air conditioning. Just like when I learned to ride in Brooklyn.

I’m a child of the ’60’s and they didn’t use training wheels on my bike. They put me on it and pushed. I stayed up or I fell on the street. One learns quickly that way.

I’m in 80s child but my experience was mostly similar. My dad took off one training wheel and sent me around the block. He took off the other wheel and then my seven year old sister pushed me around. I fell once and then I knew how to ride a bike.

ParticipantIn the 50s, I had training wheels, but they were so badly attached that they wouldn’t actually hold the bike up. I was quite relieved when they came off.
In the 80s, the day I took each of my kids’ training wheels off, I took them to Rock Creek Park, to a place the trail went down a little hill. I held onto the bicycle, started them down the hill, then let go. They fell off. The second time, they went a little longer before falling off. After a few more tries, they didn’t fall off.
Whatever the opposite of a helicopter parent is, that’s what I was. Fortunately, my children survived my treatment.

ParticipantSomehow I managed to register twice to Back Roads. My stupidity can be your gain. Bib number 1146 available for half price $40.00 first taker. Reply here, PM, or email bobjames33@verizon.net. I can probably bring to a morning coffee club or some other arrangement can be worked out.
The ride is show and go, so no transfer issues.
