ParticipantSeriously considering this one, and Indian Head this weekend. I guess I have to make my mind up on both by Thursday…

ParticipantI think we’re a no this year. We didn’t like some of the roads on the 50 miler last year – too busy, little shoulder or just asshole drivers on blind corners (made more stressful by having the 11-year-old partner in crime on the back of the tandem – I rode defense behind them most of the course).
Trying to convince the SO to somehow join the Sat ride around Antietam again…mostly so we can hit the Antietam winery.
We are doing Civil War though, likely the metric since it doesn’t add a bunch of elevation (the 11 year old PIC will be on tandem and her bike attention span can be short).

Do Indian Head – that one is my absolute favorite. Sadly, there’s a cx clinic that same day.

ParticipantI’m disappointed to see it’s on a Sunday. Sundays are for recovery from Saturday centuries!

I’m signed up for Indian Head as well. Usually tons of forum folks in attendance. Also, Indian Head support the Oxon Hill Bicycle Club who provides support for the Indian Head Trail, so the bonus is that your participation helps improve trail infrasture.

Ok, I’ll bug some of ya’ll Thursday at WTFCC and figure out the driving situation and roll out time if people want to ride together. As long as the weather forecast stays sunny and nice like it’s currently predicting, this should be fun…

There is a possibility that I am also going to do the Heart of Virginia Century the day before. I’ve never done back to back centuries, so I’m a bit on the fence.

I’ve done like 75 and 80 back-to-back during the RVA>DC ride and actually felt pretty good the second day. I think over about 80 is where chafing and what-not start to really get me, so I didn’t have those types of problems. Usually a century makes me hate even the idea of cycling for like 3-4 days afterward at least…

ParticipantNew here to the forum, but have been reading through a number of posts and the community is quite impressive.
Signed up for the Indian Head 100. Haven’t done a century in a long time, but this one looked like it would be fun and it appears the rain should be gone. Humidity, well…you can’t have everything.
Is there a group considering the ride at a time certain?

ParticipantMoving discussion of Indian Head to this thread.
I’m planning on going to the Nats/Dodgers game on Sunday night the 17th. Although it seems possible to get back from Shepherdstown in time for the game, I think I’ll pass on Back Roads.

ParticipantI may be back in town for the Back Roads, so will probably sign up just in case.

ParticipantSigned up for this one too. Looks like between this ride, Indian Head, 50 States and the fan club ride, Sept is going to be a super bike-y month for me…

Hooray! I’ve got a room booked at the Holiday Inn in Martinsburg, WV that I’d be happy to share with you and Chris if you’d like to drive up the day before. Saves waking up 1.5 hours earlier. I’m still on the fence about doing a century the day before so I’m not sure when I’d get there yet. If I don’t do the back to back century, I’ll drive up early Saturday morning to do the Saturday ride through Antietam and then do some hanging out in Shepherdstown.
