back in the commute

hi folks!

i rode in today, probably after a couple of weeks. it felt great being out there!

although, i had a couple of close encounters.

at cedar lane, car coming from the left stopped to let me go, car coming from the right drove by as i was half way crossing – then turned, looking bewildered and apologized. i managed to unclip and not fall over as i hit the brakes.

in vienna, at one of the intersections past route 123, a minivan pulled into the cross walk and then stopped because there was traffic ahead and then cringed as she realized she was blocking the cross walk.

somewhere in reston, i had and older man coming from my right slowly drive by as i was already crossing. i could tell he was in a bit of a day dream and looking off to the right as i approached, so i just went real slow. he said sorry when he noticed me (after having driven by me).

no harm done – just funny to reflect upon. must be one of those scattered brain mornings.

The fact that everyone expressed remorse for being a momentary dolt is what I like about these incidents the most I think.

It’s those guys consciously choosing to be an ass you really need to watch out for.

Or even worse, the people who don’t even realize they’ve done something wrong. They scare me the most.
