Participant19-20 miles each way, and I usually try and aim for 4-5 days a week, usually 5 though, so that puts me at around 152-200.
On Monday, it’s like the freaking Tour De France. Come Friday, my legs are begging for the weekend!

Today was my first commute since I started my job back in March (21 miles in). We’ll see how the trip home goes, but that’ll double my weekly average. At one time, I worked myself up to about 100 miles a week (6 days, 20 a day), but I’ve been struggling just to get the weekend rides (10-25 miles).

ParticipantMy commute is between 14.5 and 15.5 round trip depending on the route, plus hauling the kids around town on the weekends. I’d guess I get up to 85 for the week most weeks, 100 when I’ve got extra places to go.
Just curious, does anyone else ride for transportation on the weekends? It seems like most people are chiming in with totals that are commute + training/long rides. My total is commute + rides to the park/store/church/ice cream!

ParticipantMy raw numbers say I’m riding about 80 miles/week in 2014, but that number has increased since the dark, cold days of winter. Interestingly, 78 miles/week was pretty much right on my FS estimated mileage. If all I did was commute I’d be up around 133, but that seems crazy. I think I’d eat a large pizza for dinner every night if I did that. On average I probably only commute about 1.5x/week, though my goal is 2x. My commute is 26.6 miles round trip usually but with the 4MR detour it was over 28.
The rest of the miles are weekend rides and groceries.
Compared to some of you guys 78 miles/week seems pretty lame, but I’m ahead of my >4,000 miles goal though, so…. 100 miles/week would be a nice round number to attempt though. Hmmm….

I do, but most of the errands I run are so close it’s either not worth biking or it’s not worth adding it to my weekly total.

Yeah, we putter about in the city every so often. And now that the Fargo is a Cargo Fargo, weekends have become a quest to find ridiculous things to haul, just because.

GuestA little over 100/week average for the year. Somewhere around 115-120 most weeks since spring, not counting the ones like this past week I’ve been out of town, no bike. Weeks with a bike commute tend to be a bit higher than weeks without since I can’t compress a 30 mile ride to fit into my lunch hour (if I could, I’d have to think about taking up racing), though sometimes I just get extra miles on the weekend which evens it out.

Yes, evenings and weekends. Grocery store runs are tiny, a mile to three round trip depending on which store. But Old Town is a 7-9 mile round trip, and I generally do that somewhere between 1-3 times a week.

ParticipantWell I am quite impressed by the mileage numbers people are running up.
Makes me afraid to ride with you people fitness wise!
Kudos to all!

ParticipantBoth my commute lengths (appx. 17 miles RT) and my weekend rides are similar to yours, dasgeh. Most of my weekend rides are for transportation, with a few others in the mix from time to time.
And by the way, I’m looking forward to riding with Kidical Mass to the county fair on Aug. 9. See you there!

I do some utility riding on weekends, plus the occasional commute every couple months. Sadly (or not, actually), CVS and Giant are practically almost as fast to walk to from where I live as dragging the bike up from the basement, so quick trips are often by foot, too, or incorporated into fun rides with the little guy.

Monday is one of my regular days off, so rather than sitting home alone all day, I run errands on my bike. I often ride up to McLean, and sometimes out to Tysons. Grocery and pharmacy runs are easy, as long as I don’t have to haul an entire week’s worth of groceries (that will have to wait until I actually do get a cargo bike
). Oddly enough, I find it difficult to motivate for a bike ride unless: a) there’s a place I need to go, or b) I’m going to ride with someone else. I don’t know what I would do without my commute…get fat again, I guess.

Most of my recent rides are recreational outings with the family, including lunch, canoeing, and play ground trips.

Now that I think about it I seem to need to go and get small items from shops within 10 miles or so quite often.
I count all bike miles as “ride” miles.
Matters not where I came from or am going to during.
