ATTENTION 2015 Freezing Saddles participants and wannabes

Registration for Freezing Saddles closed last week. Registration Czar elwbikes very generously allowed some late signups; however, teams are now finalized and no more late signups are being accepted for initial team creation.

What should you do now?

CURRENTLY REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS

Teams are being announced at the happy hour on January 8. Once teams are announced, each team will need to create a Strava club and make sure all team members join that club. Hozn will add the clubs to the leaderboard. IF YOU EXPECT TO BE AWAY FROM STRAVA when teams are announced and therefore unable to join your team within the next day or two, please let me know this ahead of time. You can post on this thread or PM me. If I know ahead of time, I promise to not immediately substitute you out of the game. If you do NOT notify me ahead of time and do NOT join your Strava club in a timely manner, you may be subbed out.

Doing this sooner rather than later will both allow hozn more time to iron out problems with your data ( if any exist), and will also demonstrate to me and your future teammates a good-faith intention to join and participate (in case you have any problems joining your team once announced).

If you did NOT sign up in time to make the team, you can sign up as a possible substitute. I am making no promises about anyone making it onto a team. However, if the past is any indication of the future, at least some of you probably will. Rcannon, the Keeper of the Registration Form, will reopen registration shortly for subs. I will edit this post to add the link when that happens. I will be in contact with substitution signups, but you will NOT be assigned to a team until after happy hour team announcements plus sufficient time for everyone to find their teams.

Just a reminder, all miles and daily points starting from January 1 count, regardless of when you join your team. So go ride your bikes!

I like to keep track of how many miles I put on my bikes so I can guess when I need to replace things, especially the Prettybike. So things like trainer rides, while I’d want them recorded, I wouldn’t want included in FS miles.

I’ve also had a few rides have pretty epic glitches that I wanted recorded for posterity (like the time I took my bike on the Metro, forgot to turn off Strava, and ended up having a 35 MPH average speed near Lake Artemesia—or the time I broke 55 MPH on Rhode Island Avenue riding a steel Bianchi and took one of the most competitive College Park KOM’s), but wouldn’t want mucking up the FS stats.*
