Fairfax didn’t do any better. I was entirely without shoulders to ride on this morning, putting me directly in the lane on my 4 mile stretch of 123. Doesn’t bother me, but the panic-attack going on behind me was worse than usual.
“These days the County is relying on a web based feedback system to find out where the problems are. Folks should know about this link: http://egov.arlingtonva.us/snowrequest
It brings you to an on line form that goes directly to the snow operations team. Much more useful than the old game of telephone and email hot potato that we used to rely on.”
Thanks Tim. I’ll freely admit that I was more than a bit perturbed yesterday morning (as my OP reflects). One would have thought that by bailing off the trail to the streets where there are designated bike lanes the riding would have been safer, and that clearly wasn’t the case.
Bike lanes from Ballston to Rosslyn were much improved and now almost 100% clear the entire way. I submitted a request to the form yesterday, but I would guess that warmer temps probably did more in the past 24 hours than any human efforts…
We shouldn’t have to make requests to have the bike lanes on the streets properly cleared. *Especially* along a corridor route like Fairfax Drive. So, Tim, can you ask whether Arlington County’s snow clearance position is that they don’t do bike lanes unless asked? Thanks.
