    I remember from school there was a guy that would go up to NoVA by bicycle for the breaks. Back then I thought he was crazy; now I also would love to know the best route. :)

    I always take 3 to 522 to 20 on the motorcycle.
    Can’t stand 29.

    This route is loosely based off the route taken by the DC Randonneurs Felkerino http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3530539

    I’m not crazy about the Braddock Rd Start, but there is a sidepath there.

    If you do take this route, definitely report back!

    Be careful on Rt 28. It gets a lot of traffic and is pretty narrow after Nokesville.

    Best of luck! I developed a route starting from Crystal City. I haven’t gotten a chance to try most of it yet, though I know the section from Alexandria to Quantico sucks as you make your way through suburban sprawl. It was difficult finding a way around/through that stuff.

    I would trust Felkerino’s route more than mine.
