I’ve done it the past three years, but will miss this year because it conflicts with another ride. I highly recommend it as a good tour of Arlington. It’s a combination of trails and street riding and does have a couple of hills.

Wow! That sounds great, a combination of my two favorite things, books and my bike. Thank you for posting, I will not miss this!

Hi, I see from photos of the 2009 tour that bike riding police escorts went along with the participants – presumably for safety purposes. Will there be escorts this year as well?

    Thanks,

    Kathy

Ah, you’re just trying to get my hopes up. ;-)
I don’t think there will be a problem. I am the world’s biggest chicken and this doesn’t register at all on my Doom-o-Rama Meter.

I don’t know about this year, but there were police auxiliary bike officers in 2008 and 2009, not in 2010.

Concur: rode the DCPL Tour in 2010, don’t remember any police escorts at all.

Just a bump to remind folks that this is tomorrow. I’ll try to join for at least the beginning of it. Say hi – I’ll be on a red beater bike with black bags & fenders attached to it.

Yes indeed, there were three friendly officers who rode and drove with us today. Probably the only time I will ever require a police escort and it was very fun. It was nice to know if I broke down, riding in the back of the cruiser was a possibility and the seats back there are extra deep. Thanks bunches for a fun, low stress ride.
