An appropriate detour could be 18th and Eads Street. While this has crossings of both Route 1 and Glebe (at lights), it avoids the new path.

Of course, I think rule #5 applies and the appropriate detour is 23rd Street and Army Navy Drive.

Turning north at Eads and taking Eads to 18th Street is viable. Right at 18th will take you under Route 1 and down to the Water Park. As an alternative. take Eads north to 26th Road (or 26th Street, two parallel roads) and then go west for a block to Fern and take that to 18th. Slower, less traffic on Fern than Eads.

Another option might be MVT to Eads, east on Glebe (crossing Route 1 at the light) to Potomac Ave/Crystal Drive, north on Potomac/Crystal to the Water Park. Might be able to place some cones on Glebe for the short block to Route 1. Better option than the trail ramp to the sidewalk in front of the Porsche dealer because it has tree boxes and is narrow.

I think we are going clockwise this year.

So, I don’t think that route is correct. I believe we’re starting in Crystal City, then taking 18th to Eads down to the trail. From there, counterclockwise back to CC.

I know certain organizer people are busy, but if you happen to be in a position to poke Mr. Blacknell to really make this public, you should.

    Thanks

No need for a spoiler alert, the Crystal City BID put out a press release yesterday: http://www.crystalcity.org/item/arlington-fun-ride-and-fixtation-are-coming-to-crystal-city

Although, it doesn’t give a exact start location….

ACC and I will be volunteering at the Columbia Pike/WO&D pit stop for the Fun Ride tomorrow morning. Say or wave hi if you see us when you come by!

Thanks for putting this together. it was great meeting several of you on the loop. Riding with my little bug made me feel like I snagged all of Arlington’s KOM’s! My little girl pulled me the entire Ride. I was drafting her, sucking her wheel, and tried to pass several times, but she kept pulling away. She did finally let me pull in front for a quick picture.
She feels like 3 cents right now, but tomorrow when she is bragging to her friends, she will feel like a million bucks.
    Thanks again

I would like to point out, Dirt makes this kind of picture looks so damn easy, I almost killed 12 people trying to do it

Passing her Mom who also did the loop and some,

It was a nice ride. Thanks to PeteD for picking up my younger daughter’s pedal just a bit after the start. The good news is I think having it drop off might have finally cured her of pedaling backward.
