I noticed that the route includes the stretch of Four Mile Run Trail that heads under the bridge next to Rte. 1, in the Arlington section of Potomac Yard.

As many people already know, that bridge is in the process of being demolished, although the major demolition work hasn’t started yet. A temporary detour is being built to the east of the bridge, near Potomac Ave. The twisting detour is somewhat steep, especially for kids and casual cyclists. The detour will also require cyclists to cross Rte. 1 at grade. Crossing Rte. 1 can be intimidating for cyclists and pedestrians.
Maybe the major demolition work won’t begin until after the Fun Ride. Or if it does, maybe car traffic on Rte. 1 won’t be too bad early on a Saturday morning. I just thought I’d point this out, to avoid unpleasant surprises for anyone at the ride. If the detour becomes necessary, it would be a good idea to update the route map on the site.
