First come first served! Get there early!
Or sign up for the Arlington Fun Ride, where we will have them too….
So Diamond Derby and Fun Ride will both have cowbells? We plan on doing the Fun Ride. We’ll be the father and daughter walking up the Rosslyn hill, with the daughter complaining that the father wasn’t pedaling enough.

ParticipantThanks, Ann, for the original post.
In case anyone is interested, the Arlington Fun Ride has a Facebook page, and there’s an event page on there that you can use to invite your FB friends. You can register for the ride here. And yes, I know the registration page is a big PITA – it’s what we do, given budget and time constraints this year. If the registration is too awkward, you can always register on site (tho’ pre-registered folks will get priority for shirts).

ParticipantAnd if you don’t want to trudge up hills with trailabikes, join us for the Family Ride at 10:30am!

ParticipantI’m one of the volunteer marshals for the fun ride, but maybe we’ll all have a chance to mingle a little before it takes off.
Hope I’ll finally have a chance to meet you, das geh!

YAY! I can’t wait to meet people. I’m not sure if I meet the early shift, but I’ll definitely be there for the celebration at the end.

ParticipantIn the future, forms can be created using Google Docs that do not require the creation of passwords and coughing up Date of Birth for registrants and volunteers.
If you do volunteer, please make sure you put down a fake date of birth – its none of their business – its not relevant to the event – and it compromises your personal security. Dont put down your mother’s maiden name. Dont give them anything person. I notice that there is no privacy statement or privacy policy on the homepage saying how this information will be used or protected.
I know. I know. Broken record.

ParticipantIt’s also possible to volunteer by contacting Mr. Blacknell directly.
p.s. The Arlington Community Ride discussed in this thread and the Arlington Fun Ride are one and the same.

ParticipantSigned the family up. Gonna have to get creative on packing everyone’s bike into the minivan.

ParticipantA fine day for a ride. The Arlington Community Ride provided a grand time.
Support at all the rest areas was superb. Thanks to all the sponsors.
The chair of the Arlington Bike Advisory Committee. Jakob Wolf-Barnett offers a young cyclist a bike pin.
The bike mounted bubble machine was fun, and befitting such an event.
Coming down the W&OD towards Shirlington following Mr. Dirt.Colorful he was, despite the absence of pink. The expressions of those along the trail when they saw his bike (the fat tire fixie) were classic.

ParticipantPlease let me know if anyone is on Flickr and wants tagged, or feel free to tag anyone you see (not sure if the permissions are set right for that, let me know if not). Everyone should be able to download any picture they want too.

ParticipantThat was fun. My stoker helped me get a couple strava achievements on two of the climbs.

I see London. I see France….
That was a very fun day out. Thanks for the photo, sir. That bike is always fun to ride because people gather around to ask about it. It is a bike ambassador in and of itself.
Rock on!
