ParticipantThe Lunch in Shirlington ride on Sundays with Potomac Pedalers might be a candidate. Typically the Arlington Loop

ParticipantFairfax Advocates for Better Bicycling (FABB) is holding social rides over the year. All rides are in Fairfax County. We did a ride to the Udvar Hazy Museum, a tour of Fairfax City and the next ride is a tour of McLean. Look for them at http://www.fabb-bikes.org/events.html

ParticipantThis week’s Proteus Saturday AM will be fine for families/trailers. At least the 8am-10am ride part:
https://www.facebook.com/proteusbicycles
http://www.proteusbicycles.com/eventsrides/Saturday shop ride route update. This Saturday, I’d like to propose a more relaxed trail ride to start out. We’ll start at 8am at the shop, and head down the Anacostia Tributary trails to the Bladensburg marina. We’ll go past the lake Artemesia parking lot at about 8:30 and the Wells Ice Rink side parking lot at about 8:40 if people want to join up there. We’ll get back to the shop about 10am probably. This will be a great warm up for riders looking for a flat route at a gentle pace to stretch their legs.
Then, at 10am, we’re going to head out to the Beltsville farms to do some speed work (Laurie’s training for her first tri!). This follow-on ride would be best for those who want a faster workout for a bit.
So all are welcome to join us for a casual warm-up ride down to Bladensburg on the trails at 8am, and those who want a faster workout can join the paceline out to Beltsville at 10am!

ParticipantWe’ve been toying with the idea of starting a Kidical Mass Arlington (in part because it’s usually too far for us to bike to Kidical Mass DC stuff, and it seems odd to me to drive to a bike ride). Would people be interested?

ParticipantExcept it starts at 6pm! We’ve usually finished with dinner by then…

I’m interested. I think I could at least get to the W&OD with one of my kids okay. But I’m not against doing a drive to get to a kids ride in Arlington in a location that suits others.
I really have no idea how long either of my kids (1 and 4) would actually be interested in being towed around – I’ve never ridden more than 3 miles with them.

ParticipantYay! Interest!
We also have a toddler, so long rides are out. My first thought was to meet in Ballston for brunch (I’m not a Ballston aficionado, so I’ll just suggest Bruegger’s, though something closer to the trail would be better), then take the Bluemont trail to the W&OD to Long Branch Nature Center.
Or maybe the reverse would be better — meet at the nature center (which has parking, if folks want to drive there, and is cool, if people want to come early/stay late and explore), then bike to Ballston (Vapiano?) for lunch, then bike back.
We could probably make the last weekend in July or first weekend in August work, if people would join us. Or we could wait until September.

I’d be interested. Would have my six year old on a trail-a bike. Maybe even the three year old in a trailer behind that. We would probably have to drive to the start though.

ParticipantThis sounds like fun! I just got the whole family out on bikes this past weekend, and dangling brunch in front of them might help!
