Oh my. I’ve had to lock ’em up for deer before in Rock Creek Park (on my bike and in my truck). I guess I shouldn’t complain.

I almost had the exact same thing happen to me on the WO&D near Smiths Switch. They were running scared at dark on the gravel road at about 25 MPH. When the trails crossed, they came flying across and I missed them by 5′.

Five deer on the trail last night, in different places. So far, no aggressors.

I’ve got the surgery scars and the trashed Gary Fisher frame to prove that that hurts. I’ve broadsided two in 4 years of commuting on the W&OD.

When it gets dark, I always have the feeling that the deers are hunting for cyclists, especially further West on W&OD.

Yeah, i saw that video and couldn’t stop watching it. Luckily most the deer i passed were from a distance. Hopefully they are not as aggressive. Also, i think the deer in this local are more used to human traffic.

I encountered a large deer riding home from my daily commute from Merrifield to Shirlington on the WO&D just after the Carlin Springs underpass in Arlington! It was dark, about 7:45pm on Tue, 10/12/11, startled me big time! I saw this video from YouTube about the buck nailing the Mt. biker, it was plastered all over my Wall from my friends on facebook! but I replied, I am more worried about distracted automobile drivers with bigger “horns”!!!
