There’s still a rather significant pothole on the L street cycle lane just east of NH ave (around here:https://goo.gl/maps/j0wcZ), got a pinch flat on my rear tire going over it this afternoon.

Arlington police deploying resources to cover trails

“Mostly what you’re going to see is, I have a number of auxiliary officers that go out on the weekends,” he told board members. “They are out quite a bit.””

“The Auxiliary Police Unit is made up entirely of volunteers”

    What could possibly go wrong???

If they are riding bikes (or on foot), that will be great. If they are driving around in vehicles or on motorcycles, not so much.

My uninformed understanding was that the Arlington PD bike cops were solely auxiliary officers. On another note, I did see someone who appeared to be an Arlington County employee (Arl Co reflective vest) arrive by bike at the Ohio St access to the W&OD in Dominion Hills late yesterday. He spent some time in the area there that was recently cleared and today a county crew was cleaning up a lot of brush there. Does this mean that Arlington County took up our long ago recommendations about using bikes?

    Just found this: http://wtop.com/arlington/2015/04/bridge-work-will-clog-commute-along-washington-boulevard/

How will this affect the sidewalk/”bike path” alongside? Many of us use that path to get to DC via Memorial Bridge, or via Lady Bird Johnson Park & 14th St. Bridge. Close that off and you’ve amputated a bike route.

I looked at the construction phasing slides in the construction power point and it will remain open to peds and bikes throughout construction. Whether the surface will be enjoyable to ride on during the phase that they are rebuilding the sidewalk is another question entirely.
