Anyone biked the GAP and C&O? Curious after reading the Washington Post story…

I was reading the story this morning (http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/travel/biking-the-great-allegheny-passage-and-cando-canal-from-pittsburgh-to-dc/2012/02/28/gIQAx0pP1R_story_3.html) and wondering if anyone here has done it and had similar experiences? May be something to add to my to-do list.

Agreed, it’s not a hard climb by any measure of the word. I’d classify it more as “annoying” since it’s basically just a 2% slog for a couple of hours.

Running it west to east though there’s roughly 60 miles of 1% climb from about Confluence to the Continental Divide, honestly not sure which is more annoying

You could alwayys take the road instead. I did once, before that section of the trail was open. The downhills are amazing. The uphills not so much. I think I left a lung on the side of the road outside Frostburg,
