Trying to think back on almost 6 years and I just don’t know! The closest I came was when I went to Sint Maarten on vacation and the bike shop was closed. I did pay a man whose bike had no brakes and a bag covered a very worn saddle $10 dollars to ride it around the parking lot for 4 miles…I almost lost my streak that day!

I didn’t have that much gumption when my streak ended after 454 days while on a business trip in Mexico City in 2016. I did eye the street vendor’s trike for a moment but the thought of being thrown into a Mexican prison kept me from doing that. And now I’ve lost all drive to get another streak going.

I missed a day on Oct 12 — Canadian Thanksgiving. I had made a vow that the streak was only valid if every day’s ride had a purpose: workout, pleasure, commute, shopping/utility. On the 12th, I had to help with a coffee shop supply run (by car, sadly) in the morning, then go visit my parents in the wilds of VA for Canadian Thanks, then finally got home at about 7pm in a rainy dark drizzle. No ride that day! But that’s still 299/300 days for 2020 so far, not too bad.

Did anyone manage to ride all 366 days?

Chris Watson certainly did, and I’m betting there are at least a few others as well (Chris Randall and AndyR perhaps).

I did not…I was about 50 short, between two crashes (one being stupid on gravel, and one when a car turned in front of me) and COVID in October, it was not possible. Maybe this year I can get to 365. 366 will come back around in ’24, and I should be back in the DMV by them.

Yes, all 366 and 492 in a row. A long way to catch up to Chris who inspires me.

363/366, not a bad percentage. Missed a day in each of Oct, Nov, and Dec.

2020 was the first time I’ve ridden every day in a year [emoji1738]
