I’ll be volunteering for a WABA hosted cleanup of the Sousa Bridge on Saturday, January 27th. I hope that you can join me and help make our trail network better.

    When: Saturday, January 27th
    Time: 9 a.m. to Noon
Meet at: Anacostia Dr & Nicholson St SE
    Washington, DC 20002

    Event Description:
Join the WABA Trail Ranger team and a group of commuter volunteers on a quick cleanup of the Pennsylvania Ave Bridge on the Anacostia River Trail. We’ll spend about two hours removing trash from both sides of the bridge at some known trash spots. Then folks who are interested are going to head to Art-dreneline Cafe for coffee and conversation led by the Trail Ranger maintenance experts about how trail maintenance in DC works and how to effectively support the trails you ride every day.

Reminder on this Saturday’s trail cleanup. Come out and make our trail network better.

    Email from WABA:

    Hello!

Thanks for volunteering to join us for a short cleanup of the Anacostia River Trail on January 27th. We’ll be focusing on trash removal at some hot spots on both sides of the Pennsylvania Ave Bridge. I realized I was amiss in setting up the event auto-response email so wanted to send some quick details for Saturday.

Meeting: 9am Saturday January 27th @ Anacostia Dr and Nicholson St SE
Wear: Weather appropriate clothes that you can move around in (looks like 55F on Sat!)

We’ll be going over to Art-dreneline Cafe at Anacostia Arts Center at 11am for coffee and conversation about how trail maintenance works and what you can do! For folks who want to join us for coffee, please bring money and if you’re biking, a lock to secure your bike while we’re inside. We’ll have plenty of tools and gloves for the cleanup!

Should you have questions, the best way to reach me is by email at ursula.sandstrom@waba.org.

    Best,
    Ursula

So, I was talking at WTFCC about doing a slow ride to Lorton on Saturday for beerneuring. It occurs to me that rather than that, I could do this and then head to either Atlas or DC Brau. Anyone interested, let me know here (or at the event) and we can decide where to head. I will try to have some routes in mind, but will be flexible as to destination.

I’m in for beer. Glad that you’re coming out for the cleanup.

Curse you, wife’s Saturday AM gym class and kid’s 130pm futsal game.

I’ll be at the cleanup. If anyone in NoVa wants to convoy over to the event start, I’m planning to get coffee at Commonwealth Joe’s in Pentagon City and then roll out around 8:10 a.m.

Thanks to lordofthemark, Komorebi and jrenaut for coming out today. The Sousa Bridge has accumulated quite a bit of glass. Lots of progress today but there’s still more work to do.

Komorebi displays a hand picked curation of trail glass:
