Really. Couldn’t you have picked a better day? It’s my first day back from vacation and I knew it was going to be bad already, but you and your buddy knocking me off the bike and sticking a gun in my face? I’m pissed. Thanks for leaving my my bike though, although when I caromed off that wall that you knocked me into it split the headtube. Now not only do I have to replace all the stuff you jacked from me but you leave me having to fix my bike. I’d have much preferred that you took the bike – it would have left me justifying at least that you probably faceplanted someplace after you left me and knocked out one of those gold teeth you had in your mouth.

Now the MacBook? Have fun with that. I’m really hoping you go to your local starbucks with the cash you got and hook it to wi-fi. You see I’m an IT guy and that laptop will now call home the minute it sees an open internet connection. When it does there’s 10 IT folks here that’ll get that message. Just think, a team of folks dedicated just to you! I’ll actually leave it unlocked for a bit so you can use it. Anything important will get deleted as soon as you hook up to go to gangsta.com anyway, that much is already done. Then I’ll instantly have a location and a picture of your ugly mug. That happens and you’re going to be fricking famous. You have no idea what’s in store for you. My security folks and the folks upstairs here are on this like white on rice. Ya want I do Twitter or Facebook first?

Tell ya what? Ya want to make some quick cash? My contact info is on the laptop. I’ll give ya a cool $500 for it in fresh $100 bills. More than you’ll get for it from the local fence. Then you get cash and I get my stuff back. Saves me having to go buy a new one this afternoon. Besides, when we’re all done I’ll even shake you hand. Right before my knee hits your cojones.

    Have a nice day.

Coming across the Key Bridge at 4am this morning. On the short funnel between Whitehurst and the brick pavers at the end of the bridge.

Thanks guys. I’m fine. Pissed more than anything. All material stuff.

Already ordered a new Redline Conquest Pro frameset to replace my Fuji Cross, will just strip it out and transfer all the bits.

My whole team here just sitting hoping for my Macbook to call home :)

Man, that REALLY sucks! I ride that every morning!

I’d love to hear the conclusion to this. I too am in IT and have my laptop set to phone home as well. I don’t have a team of IT guys, but it’s something!

Good luck, I hope you can catch the bastards!

    Very glad you weren’t shot.
Could you please give us as detailed a physical description as possible of the two assailants?
    Thanks.

    Thanks.

About 9mm in diameter is my most vivid recollection. :)

African american, very late teens/early 20s. One approx 6′ , one with the gun about 5’8″. Both medium build for height. Short hair, gunman wearing jammers, black plain T shirt and a white NY hat (stuck because what’s with the leaving the price tags on them?)

Mode of operation is they split apart and force you down the middle. Taller one tried a roundhouse and didn’t have such good aim and caught my helmet ( I hope that frigging hurt!) but I was in avoidance mode and it caused me to turn into the wall. Had I been able to extricate fast enough I’d have been out of there. Had just come to a stop when I had a gun to my face. I saw it coming, albeit too late to bail. This makes the second time in the same area, in the same timeframe with the same MO. First time I saw it earlier and aimed right for the bigger one and they backed off. That was several months ago. Can’t say if it was the same pair.

Was over inside of 60 seconds. Basically strip and run.

Oh Dear God. Thank God you weren’t shot. Were the police helpful? Please, please consider hitting that part of your commute a little later.

Hey, do you need a ride back to your car this afternoon? Let me know.

I really hope you and your IT guys catch these thugs. Not only do they deserve some jail time, but hopefully it could help deter similar behavior from others.

Thanks, but I’m good. I’m parked at the Sunset Hills P&R today, I can metro to WFC and pick up one of the buses from there. It makes for a solid “Plan B”

Really, really appreciate the offer though.

Wow. Reading how it happened really jacked my heartrate up. I don’t know how you kept your wits about you. So glad you got out okay.

Best free solution for a Mac is here: http://preyproject.com/

    Cheap one is here: http://hiddenapp.com/

Mine’s using an enterprise version (Computrace) tied to our corporate systems that’s fairly pricey. Fortunately i can piggyback my personal mac on the corporate account or I don’t think I’d want to spend the $$
