On the lighter side, I like the image as it focuses on the space drivers give when passing. Adding a detail like “legal/illegal” would be a minor improvement to really communicate the idea.
Looking deeper, the first thing I think of when I see this is that the cyclist should be riding in the lane, not on the line. I’d also point out that in the bottom image, the driver is overcompensating the distance because they might not understand the dimensions of their vehicle. IME I’ve always felt weird when someone passes with an extreme amount of distance because it makes me wonder if the driver is not confident, skilled, or possibly even sober.
