    The Alexandria BPAC (Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee) is having its July meeting this upcoming Monday, July 17, at 7 p.m. at the Bradlee Safeway Community Room at 3526 King Street Alexandria, VA.

    I do not have the agenda for the meeting, but we will have a guest speaker. Jeremy Grandstaff from the National Federation of the Blind will speak about how people who are vision-impaired travel around the city.

    The meeting is open to the public. If you happen to know anyone with vision-impairment, I strongly recommend letting them know about this meeting.

      • Safe Routes to School non-infrastructure Grant Award – Eldon Boes/Jim Durham
      • Bicycling in the Schools
      o With funds previously raised (~ $30,000) and a portion of the VDOT SRTS non-infrastructure grant, bicycling safety and skills education will be provided in 8 of 13 ACPS elementary schools in 2017-2018.
      o Fall 2017: Charles Barrett Elementary School (ES), Mount Vernon Community School, James K. Polk ES and John Adams ES
      • Volunteers needed for “Bike for Good at the Market” – Deliver food gleaned from the Old Town Farmers Market at noon on the last Saturday of the month Contact Jake Jakubek (jjakubek@gmail.com)
