Maybe wired to some sort of voice activated digital signboard, sort of a 21st century bumper sticker to share your thoughts while riding, what could go wrong.

I will say, being able to turn on the outside lights and open the garage door as I pull up with a spoken command would be lovely.

I have a garage door opener in my purse, which I can get to kinda easily, but not always. My husband has one mounted under his seat, so he looks like he’s grabbing his crotch every time he comes or goes. I chuckle.

Can you tell me more about this? I have been trying to figure out a way to have a garage door opener mounted on my bike in a fashion that it would be weather proof. Having to stop and use the keypad is kind of a pain, especially when it is raining.

I have a Chamberlain MyQ retrofit kit for our garage door that allows us to open the garage door with an app on the phone. Where this comes in handy with the bike is there’s also a Garmin iQ app that someone developed (one time $4.99 fee) that allows me to open or close the door from a Garmin unit (provided it’s paired with the phone or after I wait a little bit for the Garmin to pick up the WiFi). That’s been a real timesaver and convenience in “less than ideal” weather. The only downside is that I’m now using a Garmin… :)

Yes, I am quite spoiled with having the fancy carhole to store our bikes.

We bought a couple “keychain” garage door openers. I believe he attached his under his saddle with zip ties. Originally, I think he used a plastic baggie for extra water protection. I think he gave up on the baggie when he moved to a new saddle, since it didn’t seem like much water got up there. The opener only cost about $10, so if it dies, nbd. We’ve been doing this for about 2 years without issue.

Maybe a weatherproof cellphone case with bike mount would work?

Not sure that would allow me to use the buttons on the remote without removing the case.
I think I will just get one of the cheap keychain ones and see how that works. If it dies due to water, $10 is not terribly expensive to replace.

We actually purchase cars by length so bike storage is not impacted. We’re a family of five with 8 bikes.
