Wow, isn’t this weather terrific?
You got to be a commie fascist mom-jean wearing baby seal clubbing Linux user to think that.

I’m sorry that I took issue with your posts. But your first post just basically came across as – we have been working very hard on this in our little meetings so you should be happy and just put up with whatever ACPD feels like because things are moving in the right direction. And that wasn’t really what I wanted to hear – I am more of the mindset of holding people accountable, rather than feel-good talk.
Thanks. I’m sorry you read my posts that way. If you go back and read what I wrote, you’ll see that I actually suggest doing more than meetings. I agree that you need more than meetings, but I disagree that meetings are useless. The most recently changes in the lights at the IoD have been directly attributed to a meeting. There’s a meeting next week with the Chief of Police that someone could go to and bring this up (again, maybe not this specific situation, but the broader problem of the relationship between ACPD and cyclists/pedestrians.
Big picture: I think it all has to be smartly done. Being a jerk to the people working hard in this area doesn’t fall into that category.

ParticipantOk, sounds good. I don’t think either thing needs to exist in a vacuum. You can work in the big picture to try to change things, and that can effect change, but when there’s a lapse in accountability or there’s bad behavior, sometimes it needs to be called out, because that’s how you shine light on things. So I guess neither of us should marginalize the other’s actions.
I’ve about exhausted what I have in me for this thread. I’m sure Hokie will come back with some protracted writeup about how I can’t read, and how I was actually throwing pickles at the cop while telling him that I was the Pope and calling his mother a dog, but whatever, that’s fine. Thanks for listening.

This is my last post on the subject…about time I know.
I have tried to be polite. Based on facts YOU provided I used logic and deductive reasoning as the basis of my argument. I pointed out that you’re likely incorporating an observer bias which you apparently find unpleasant enough to respond with accusations of lies. They’re based on facts provided by you so if they’re lies, who’s lying? I tried to point out the perspective of a cop based on verifiable historical events, to which you bury the lead and say I’m accusing you of murder. In my opinion, you’ve displayed an inability to consider another point of view outside of your own. That’s your prerogative, but don’t pee on my noggin and expect me to believe you when you tell me it’s raining.
I listened to you. I agreed with you. My mom the dog agreed with you. That the cop could’ve done a better job and was rude to you. Where I and others disagreed with you was your statement the cop acted in a threatening manner towards you. If you haven’t figured out by now, I take accusations such as those rather seriously. I and others pointed that out and you went snarky. I made the mistake of indulging you. A mistake I will not make again.
Now stop throwing pickles at the cop. It’s undignified behavior for a Pope.

ParticipantI’m starting to hate all picture taking devices in general. Although the “Boy on Fire” photos in the Cyclocross 2014 thread are remarkable in their own way.

He hates babies and puppies. YOU get Your facts right. Or are you calling me a liar?!? Or throwing pickles at me or something?

ParticipantCan somebody throw some pickles over here? I’m still at work and I’m hungry.

ParticipantLook, Shaun… I took a picture of you yesterday at the Intersection of Dread. You tried to beat me with a cue stick. It just seems to me that you have created an environment of hostility. A think we are going to have to bring this during a meeting of the ABAC.

ParticipantMy guess is that Arlington Police are having a learning curve with this whole endeavor. I noticed this a few days ago and photogged it yesterday.
I hope things keep improving and are positive as they patrol this spot. It can be a very good thing.

ParticipantI don’t understand why NPS & ACPD can’t get some kind of joint jurisdiction agreement. The current situation (splitting up a busy intersection) seems terminally ridiculous.

ParticipantDidn’t see any police there today, unless that shabbily-dressed old guy was working under cover.
