ParticipantIt’s a collision or a crash for sure. Can’t know if it was an accident without more information.
Also frightening because I normally commute on Kenmore.

Really glad you chimed in, we were just talking about this stretch of road. And how calm and safe it is…

ParticipantThat’s part of my normal commute since I hate riding up Walter Reed, especially with my bike rack loaded up. Hope the rider is OK. I thought since you took the pic you also witnessed the accident.

ParticipantSince I started commuting regularly to Clarendon from Del Ray, I go up Kenmore just about every time I go to work. I’ve generally found it to be a gentle and quiet route, though in my experience, the most likely to break that peace there and do something borderline stupid in terms of a pass are Metrobuses, so I am sadly not surprised that a Metrobus was involved.
Hope no one was hurt, though that bike doesn’t look like it could have fared too well.

ParticipantSorry to see this. Hope the individual is ok.
I’m pretty sure I have also had negative experiences with bus drivers on Kenmore. I recently had a very negative experience with a bus driver in DC on 16th St., complained here, and got the below response, which I appreciated so just offering my humble psa for doing that.
> Thank you for taking the time to make us aware of a Metrobus being operated in an unsafe manner. Safety is Metro’s top priority, and occurrences such as this are taken very seriously. We rely on other drivers, our customers and the general public to help us watch for unsafe driving.
> The information you have provided will help us identify this driver so that we can take proper disciplinary action. Safe driving is the chief responsibility of every Metrobus driver, and any conduct that deviates from that will not be tolerated.
> We apologize for the unprofessional actions of this driver. Thanks again for contacting us, and we hope that sharing the road with Metrobuses will be a positive experience in the future.August 3, 2015 at 12:35 pm #1035081Overtone
ParticipantI was the original poster who took the photo. I was out of town from Thursday evening which is why I didn’t reply to this thread earlier.
I didn’t witness the (crash, collision, accident, whatever chris_s wants to call it
. I was on a bus that came upon the scene from the opposite direction after emergency response was already there.
The first responders were pretty relaxed, and I didn’t see any crime scene tape, so I suspect there was no serious injury to the cyclist. Sorry I don’t have more information.
