Accident in DC?

News article on mentions that is happened near 14th Street and Constitution Avenue Tuesday morning and she has serious but non life threatening injuries.

A friend saw it. He didn’t see a bicycle involved.

According the WUSA9, she was serious injured but not life-threatening.

Oh god…more accidents.
I really do hope for the best for her and the others that have been hit recently.

Crash statistics are interesting (http://www.bhsi.org/stats.htm). Looking at processed numbers is one thing but reading the headlines puts names to the numbers.

This should serve as a reminder to all of us. Even if you are not at fault you will loose.

That is why I prefer the trails for the majority of my riding, being a big fish in a small pond is how I prefer things.

Looks like “serious but non life-threatening” seems to be a common outcome with bike vs vehicle and that NW is a dangerous place to ride during the morning and evening commute. Stay safe out there. I hope she recovers quickly.

There’s a post with eyewitness accounts (and photos of the SUV) on DCist. Looks like the cyclist was trapped under and dragged for a bit. She was crossing (on her bike) in the crosswalk, it seems.
