A Third Thursday Happy Hour and celebration of our amazing success in helping not just WABA, but three (!) biking organizations meet their full $10,000 Clif challenges, will be held at Capitol City Brewery in Shirlington after your workday on August 16.

All are welcome, including significant others, friends, and especially those new to this forum. This is a no-host event, but Cap City will have their usual Thursday specials with reduced pricing for seasonal brews and selected appetizers from 4 to 7 p.m., and $2 core brews all evening long.

RSVPs are greatly appreciated by Cap City management so they can reserve tables for us and provide good service and individual checks. Just let me know a few days in advance and I’ll pass the info along to them on August 14 or 15.

Parking information for cars and bikes is attached below. In addition, covered bike parking (inverted U racks) is available on the Cap City side of the Shirlington bus station.

I should be there. I’ll likely be running a little late (which means I’ll get there 15 minutes before anyone else). ;) My guess is that my lovely bride will join me.

I might show up late and sweaty (as opposed to early and sweaty), as the Revolution Cycles ride is that night too I think.

Is it going to be lambic night in celebration of this guy: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/olympics-fourth-place-medal/belgian-cyclist-kicked-olympics-drunken-night-153037890–oly.html?

Leffe will be fine (and more readily available). If you come in a torn-up t-shirt and jorts you can always have Stella.

I am currently training for the “beat Dirt to the empty table” fondo, so I will certainly be there but who knows if i’ll medal.

Hey ShawnoftheDread, I’ll bring those brake pads with me if you’re going to be there & want them still. In fact I stuck them in my bag tonight so if you see me before then I’ll have them. I won’t remember I have them, but I’ll have them. ;)

You’re a peach — I forgot about those pads. I was looking at my brakes one day trying to figure out how to tell if they were too worn, when I realized they are so old that the wear-indicator lines are completely gone. But I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to the happy hour. Maybe I’ll stalk you on the MVT.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! I think we have a critical mass to lay claim to the good patio tables, and it looks like Thursday will be a beautiful day for a ride to Shirlington and sitting outside.

Any others who would like to join us are still welcome. I won’t pass the info to Cap City until tonight, and even after that, we’ll have or will make room for any extras who show up.

By the way, there’s currently some paving work being done on the short strip of Shirlington Road right next to Cap City. I expect that it’ll be finished by Thursday, but the sidewalk is an easy bailout.

And since I can’t find the thread where we were talking about fenders a couple of days ago – the detachable ones that I use are the SKS X-board downtube mounted fender for the front, and the SKS X-blade seatpost-mounted one for the back. I had to find a back fender that would fit over my rack, since I couldn’t fit one under the rack, and these have worked out really well for me. Will bring them to the happy hour.

    See ya’ll soon!

I can’t make it this week, so I hope you all can somehow manage to enjoy yourselves without me.
