All food items must be contained in single serving bags within a soft-sided container or cooler that does not exceed 16″ x 16″ x 8″. Metal, plastic or glass containers of any kind (except for factory-sealed, clear plastic water bottles, no larger than 1 liter, baby food, empty water bottles and juice boxes) are prohibited at Nationals Park. Only one bottle of water per person will be permitted. See GUEST CONDUCT POLICY (Prohibited Items).I’m imagining a Top Chef challenge to design a gourmet picnic that meets those criteria…
Thought I’m not sure what kind of “single-serving bags” aren’t plastic… I guess the cloth ones?

I recently brought in grilled bbq chicken, pasta salad, and regular salad. They let aluminum foil slide usually, or at least those aluminum foil tins if kept within the cooler. Worst case they just ask to see whats inside it. You just bring in paper plates and forks. Also the “single serving bags” can also be larger than a sandwich bag. I used something between a sandwich bag and a gallon bag. Each bag was enough of the dish for 2 people.

ParticipantThis is good! I was completely misreading that!
Can I bring in a back pack filled to the brim of single serving bags of peanuts???? 😎

ParticipantI used bikeshare to get to the game last night and I won’t be doing it again. All of the docs were full within a mile of the stadium and there didn’t seem to be any effort at all to balance any of the stations. I circled around aimlessly for what seemed like eternity checking the spotcycle app every few minutes to no avail.

Do people tip the bike valet?
I give them $1 or $2. The same as taking a Circulator round trip but so much faster and more fun. Plus the guys are awesome.

Yeah, you have to arrive early. I wish CaBi could set up a permanent corral in collaboration with the bike valet. Since they seem to have ruled that out, I gave them lots of encouragement in social media when they offered the corral on opening day.

How quickly do they fill up? I thought about using it, but didn’t want to get stuck locking up to a meter for hours.

I have never seen it too full, even during big games like Opening Day.

Thanks. That’s good to know. I sort of assumed it would be full hours before the game.

ParticipantThe bike valet is the very best way to get to baseball games. The attendants are friendly and awesome. You can leave all your stuff with your bike (like a pannier or backpack) and it will all be there when you return–just as you left it. No need to bring a lock. I wear a bike jersey to ride down and then put on my Nationals shirt when I get there (possible to do because I’m male). Then I just hang my jersey on the bike, and my helmet, and anything else I’ve schlepped with me.
At Sunday’s game they were pretty full when I arrived at the end of the first inning, but somehow they always figure out how to get all the bikes in. Like DCLiz I generally tip them $1 or $2.

ParticipantA Washcycle post about a DDOT transportation study for the Buzzard Point/Waterfront area (M Street SE-SW Transportation Study). D.C. United could move into a new soccer stadium at Buzzard Point, not far from Nationals Park. Improved transportation throughout that area would be necessary.

If and when the stadium is built and CaBi stations are added at the soccer stadium, those could be useful for those who want to use CaBi for Nats games. If there isn’t a soccer match at the same time, then members could drop off bikes at the nearby soccer stadium bike stations. The soccer stadium would only be a couple blocks away from Nats Park (Half and 2nd Streets SW, between R and T Sts.).September 28, 2014 at 8:01 pm #1010795PotomacCyclist
ParticipantSeriously? Final day of the season, Denard Span sets the Nats single-season hit record. Oh, and Jordan Zimmermann throws the 1st no-hitter in Nats history!
NL East champions and top seed in the NL playoffs. First Nats playoff game on Friday!

Sadly it looks like a 12:07 or 3:07 start time
.
I’m going, but annoyed that my extra tickets may be a pain to sell. The Saturday game is going to be tough for me too. Taking an older relative to MD v OSU football at noon then dropping her off and back down to DC for Nats at 5:30. I swear MLB sometimes hates Washington. Especially with the nonsense that the Nats couldn’t pay for Metro to stay open late because it may set a bad precedent for other MLB teams, ergo the AU sponsorship.

FTFY
Also, Jayson Stark has an ESPN column up “Why the Nationals will win it all”
I hope he’s not not jinxing us! [knock on wood, throw salt over my shoulder, etc., etc.] -
