A band that commutes by bike

I am humbled by this story reported on NPR by my old friend Lisa Napoli:

“Some musicians arrive at their gigs in a tricked out tour bus. Others, if they’re lucky, in a limo. But there’s a popular band based in downtown Los Angeles that relies on a lower-key, low-carbon form of transportation. In car-crazy L.A., the band members either bike, walk or skateboard to all of their gigs.”

The Steel Wheels out of Harrisonburg, VA also does some band touring by bike. They have gotten pretty big, so they only do it for local-ish stuff these days, though.

That’s awesome! I mainly know them from the great music festival they’ve put together. Finding out they also tour by bike makes them even better.
