Being a belt and suspenders kind of rider, I’ll have the cue sheet and my paper copy of the Washington, DC bicycle map with me too.

Make sure your Marshall is consularrider. My Marshall last year took a few wrong turns.

 I can’t get the GPX to load into my Garmin Edge 200 either. I just got the GPS yesterday, so the probability of user error is high. I’m not sure what the problem is though.

Have you loaded other rides? I didn’t think the Edge 200 offered the ability to do that.

Yes, I got it to work. But as TwoWheels said, it might be more trouble than it’s worth. I’ll just stick with recording my rides with the 200 I think.

Hi, I was referring to the 2013 link sent yesterday. For some reason my web browser was causing the hiccup.

I’ll look out for you at the start line; the pink bike is very distinctive! I’ll be riding a red and white Cannondale synapse with red sidewalls and a rack.

I’ll look for you and the Ngs. I’ll going to try to get there early and start near the front. I’ll be wearing green Proteus jersey, blue and white Giro helmet. Probably green hybrid, maybe silver hybrid. If I don’t get busy soon with some wrenching and laundering, I’ll be on a Cabi, wearing a t-shirt and cotton dockers, commando style. :p

Congrats to all. 50 States Ride is a nice trophy to have.

First time participating in the 50 States Ride, and it was epic! I was lucky enough to finish before the rain came, but it did make the ride home more enjoyable.

I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting so many hills and I was a bit intimidated by this ride, but I kept Velominati rule #5 in my head at all times to get through it. The best part is that this ride was the biggest challenge for me this year and I was able to successfully complete it.

Special thanks to everyone who helped me on Independence Ave today when a piece (metal arm connecting to my frame) of my bike rack decided to break and the whole thing fell backwards. A quick MacGyvering with a BikeArlington leg strap and bungie cord (I will pass it on to someone I help on the trail), and I was able to continue.

I also survived a vicious attack from a dog while stuck in the traffic jam at the beginning of the ride. Okay, not a vicious attack, but the dog did lick my leg and then proceeded to try to chew on my foot (his owner was alert enough to pull him away before any slobber was transferred).

Interesting statistics: according to Strava, I climbed almost the same feet as I burned calories (2896 feet climbed, 2881 calories burned) on the ride (this does not include biking to/from the event from my apartment in Ballston)

Ha! That was me and DSalovesh on Independence! The bungie cord has also helped me carry corn on the cob many times. Give to the next person who needs it, for good bike karma :). Glad to hear the rest of the ride went well!

Thanks to the WABA folks who helped me with my flat, in the rain, with just a few miles to go. It would have taken me forever to fix that without them! I owe you!

Do I spy Consularrider? Good riding with you, even as we looped back around to hit Delaware :).

In that last one from Rod – just when I thought the steep hill and downpour had crushed my soul, that guy (brown bike on my left) passed me. On a single-speed.

Thanks, you guys! You were really clutch in that situation! I’ll pass it on in full.
