We had friends in town this weekend, so I wasn’t able to join the ride. But while out running errands around the Hill (picking up a couple of 1/6 kegs from my beer guy in the car) I saw you guys around 15th and K SE. I hope it was a great ride!
We didn’t see you; we were too busy trying not to get lost! My wife swears she saw a drug deal, though. That’s not the same as a beer deal, I guess.

ParticipantWhat a great ride. Thanks to cr for holding my bike so I could check in when I got there late. Good to see Bob Cannon and the SUPER DUO of Rockford and dkel. Even had a bonus ROD SMITH sighting. Got to ride a good amount with Steve O, who pedals up hills like NINJA SWORD THROUGH MICROWAVED BUTTER. He made it look that easy. Saw Dirt at the burrito stop and hardcore lamented not ordering a steak burrito. Then I saw people moaning from burrito coma and decided I made the right decision. Rode for a while with a guy in all orange plus a racing helmet WITH visor who said he designed the course…so that was interesting and awesome. Finally hooked up with FIXIE SUPERSTAR TwoWheels and we rode the rest of the way together. The rain made for an epic, rule 9 style finish. The lack of protein at the pit stops made me see Odin or Jesus or some other deity.
Yay cycling!

That orange kitted guy marshals the hell out of ride. He was telling everyone what to do with their burritos at lunch. He also liked going up to people and saying, “You don’t look very good. Are you drinking enough water.” I appreciate the concern, but he needs to find a different opener.

ParticipantThere were about fifteen things I thought about naming the ride on Strava (a Lars Boom reference very narrowly lost out), given all the memorable moments on the long, strange trip it was. Between ride marshaling and being the Tube Fairy, hearing “Here Comes the Sun” in the worst part of the deluge from a bottlecage speaker, seeing half of #bikeDC at the Eastern Market pit stop, having the Women & Bicycles sticker Nelle gave me at the Anacostia pit stop survive the ride on my bike (yes, there is only one sticker I’d ever put on Marianne the Very Pretty Bianchi), running into the New Mexican Zia Jersey Collective, having two “I totally meant to do that” fishtail/recovery moments, having WABA equated with the Devil himself after a few of the more enjoyable hills, and getting to introduce the DC folks who have only ever seen me on the trailer-towing Schwinn to the Prettybike, there were lots of Good Moments.
Okay, I think I finally have all the Boom-esque grime cleaned off M. Time to go pick up some replacement tubes.
