ParticipantI took last year off, but signed up again this year. Gonna make it a “Fixed-y States Ride.”

ParticipantHere I go again. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve ridden this beast. We will ride the hills. We will ride the rain. We will ride with fritters. We will ride in pain. We will ride the News, the Norths and Souths, we will ride til we get some pizza in our mouths.
Clearly doing this ride causes serious long term neurological problems.

Or, we will stay in bed and write off the registration fee as a donation to WABA.

ParticipantThey are also looking for volunteers (including bike marshals).

ParticipantHmm… It claims all WABA members got an e-mail about this event. I didn’t, even though I’m a member. And since I have no idea what my membership number is, and there appears to be no way to look it up online, I suspect I’m out of luck on registering.

ParticipantCall WABA today. They are always helpful and will likely send you a replacement card (good for discounts at your LBS)

WABA emails always seem to go to my “Promotions” folder in gmail, and sometimes to my spam folder…

ParticipantKeeping my eye on the weather heading into this Saturday. I suckerred 2 co-workers into joining me this year.
Capital Weather Gang is cautiously optimistic about Saturday:
It turns much cooler and less humid on Friday behind the front, with mostly sunny skies overhead. Highs aim for the mid-70s across much of the region. Confidence: MediumAn October-like air mass takes hold of the region this weekend, as highs only reach the upper 60s to near 70 after morning lows near 50 in the suburbs and in the mid-50s downtown (with mid-upper 40s possible in the typically cooler spots). It should be partly-to-mostly sunny on both days. Confidence: Medium

ParticipantIt always rains on 50 States day. Always.
They still need ride marshals—even though I could have ridden for free, even though I already paid, everyone I know is either sitting out or helping out. No more guilting needed—I’m putting on the vest and marshaling this one.

ParticipantI’ll be working at the Eastern Market stop. Please come by and say “hi”. Should be a fun day!
