So much for a “dusting” of snow.
If streets/trails were treated early (or beforehand), they’re fine. Otherwise, they’re covered in snow. Since it’s cold, if not many cars have bee on it, the snow is not packed down and is easy to navigate.
Columbia Pike, eastbound, is covered and slushy. Once you get to the Sheraton, it’s been treated and a lane and a half is just wet.
The trail from the Pentagon to Memorial bridge. The first part, from the Pentagon to just past the bridge over the southbound GW Parkway, was treated a couple of days ago. It’s clear, it’s just wet. After the southbound GW Parkway, it’s covered in snow, sin some areas there appears to be more snow on the trail than on the grass next to it. It’s not to bad. (Again, none of it was packed down.)
Memorial Bridge, both the sidewalks and road surface, are covered in snow. It was not bad.
The western end of Independence Avenue was just getting treated at 3:00 a.m., so it was covered in snow. Ohio Drive from the Lincoln Memorial to the Jefferson Memorial was untreated. (Other than the foxes, no one had been on it since the snow had started.)
The sidewalk past the Jefferson Memorial is untreated. (The cones were not an issue for me.)
Maine Avenue SW and M Street SW had been treated and were clear, three lanes in each direction. The side streets, such as 12th, 7th, 6th, 4th, etc. were untreated and covered in snow.
M Street SE was partially treated, with two lanes in each direction clear. The right lane was covered in snow.
All-in-all, it’s not bad, but nothing was packed down. Untreated streets might be a problem once cars churn it up and pack it down in spots.
