ParticipantLadies and Gents! It’s OFFICIAL!!! Despite the storm being over the weekend, despite a huge bulk of the government (including yours-truly) on furlough WE HAVE A SNOW DAY!!!
Henceforth, miles ridden on January 14, 2019 will count for the Michigander Prize! Non-essential, or not, get out there and have some fun.

ParticipantOh snap! Two in one year! It’s SNOW DAY TIME!
Tomorrow, February 20 will be another chance to add mileage to your Michigander Prize total. Finally, a race!

Did I miss something? Everyone seemed to be working normally today, February 19.

We’ve had 16 school snow days where I am in Michigan (quite a few local Gov’t shutdowns too). Appears DC area is made of tougher stuff than Michiganders.
Might also have something to do with Michigan’s horrible unpaved road system and rotten paved road maintenance that makes it too dangerous for school buses.February 24, 2019 at 10:34 pm #1096004Kitty

As for the roads, they just straight up suck. My father-in-law has a theory about the stranglehold of “big concrete” keeping M-DOT from using asphalt like a civilized realm. Others point to a moral aversion to road tolls. Whatever the reason, you can actually feel the difference as soon as your cross state lines.
