Registration is open for the 2019 Croatan Buck Fifty!

This race was a BLAST last year, and I am hoping we can get an even bigger group from DC down to race this. Great venue, awesome course (although, it is a bit flat, but definitely not boring), amazing swag, and just a great all around vibe. Plus, who could turn down a weekend at the beach in March?! 😎

Registration is expected to sell out, so sign up quickly!

I’ll be riding the titanium racing machine which currently has tubeless 32s on them which will be toast by March. What should I put on for Croatan?

Also, Robyne stole one of your routes for yesterday’s ride. It was really pretty.

Tires are always a good question. I am a big fan of “run what ya brung” and rode my 40mm Maxxis Ramblers last year. They were pretty darn awesome.

That being said, I might try something a little different this year, depending on if I have my new frame by March. I wanted to try some slightly wider, slightly file-treadier, 650b tires (Maxxis Re-Fuse) and this sounds like the perfect opportunity.

Also, we should go for a gravel ride as soon as cross season is over! 😎

Gnar will be shred. Cube will be gleamed.

Potentially riding next weekend with Samantha and Robyne.

Cap Cross is this weekend (in Reston, at Lake Fairfax, you guys should come out and cheer!) and the next weekend, we are leaving for CX Nationals. So… Cross season for me will be over on the 16th. :)

The organizers just sent a message that the ride’s sold out. They started a wait list if others are still interested. Glad to see a strong contingent from the forum will be going. Thank you again, Sunyata, for spreading the word!

The e-mail also included a call for volunteers so if you’d like to take a mini-vacation and help make the event possible that would be cool.

What’s folks plans on getting down there? Does it possibly make sense to rent a big ol van?

For folks that may be interested in volunteering (there’s a promise of free swag):

    Volunteers Needed

We can not have a best bike game ever without support. If you have a family or friend coming to the race and they would like to be of service for the day, please have them email us at info@stokesmith.com We will give them a proper task and swag them up!

Team Bikenetic is showing up in force and has already filled up two houses near the beach in Emerald Isle.

Several of us are going down Thursday (arrival, mid-afternoon) and plan to make dinner that night in the bigger of the two houses if anyone going down early wants to join in. Once I know more details about the address/menu (will most likely be “make your own pizza” with my famous pizza dough, which is vegan but full of gluten) I will post up.
