ParticipantI’ll be there!
(And, wanna know a secret? I’m a HUGE introvert. Seriously. I invite everyone down to HP then spend 3 days afterwards recovering from all the extrovert effort I have to put in.)
We are doing handups slightly different this year to make it less of a frenetic experience. Only a couple people will be on the right side doing it. Left side will be for passing. I have plenty of handups so everyone will have a chance. (And, I’m going to be encouraging the fast groups to hang to the left, etc. etc.)
Hope ya’ll can make it down there because my house is full to bustin’ with swag!

ParticipantMegabeth, thank you. And an even bigger thank you for the reminder about road etiquette. That’s important. [Your “preaching to the choir” moment follows. Ha.] No secret that Megabeth is trying to make her fundraising ride as inclusive as possible. So, you get a mix of riders ranging from the road racers working on pacelines or trying to squeeze a Century in before 3, to families carrying their kids on cargo bikes. (And of course, Steve O’s unicycle tradition. That’s right, Steve, you’re officially a “tradition”.) Somewhere in the middle will be my wife, on the Breezer named Snowflake, who simply wants to cruise. The last time she ran the 100, she was intimidated/irritated by the fast groups blowing by. So, a reminder to all- faster traffic stay left, slow traffic keep right, and be mindful and courteous to all- NO POINTS GIVEN for scaring someone off the road. Politeness that I hope carries over the W&OD and Mt Vernon trails.

Yes. I’ll mail you some hand up swag to make it a more authentic experience.

ParticipantSo I signed up anyway. I have to leave before noon so can’t do a century, but I can get a few ovals in and leave before I start getting dizzy.

Liked for the bicycles. Disliked for the gingerbread part.
