It’s on Saturday, November 5, so naturally I delayed my departure until Monday, November 7. The longer Honeycrisp route will include the Anacostia East Bank Trail to Bladensburg. There was resurfacing work going on this week.
Inside scoop on the route. Sweet. I’m signed up and planning on doing the long route. Who else is in?

ParticipantI’m signed up for the Honeycrisp route too. Bike selection will be a game day decision, but I’m planning on going fixed for now.

I saw a report on weather.com that was forecasting above averages for November.

ParticipantI’m signed up. Sounds like that there is no hard start time. Am I correct?

ParticipantRolling start from 8:30-10:30 AM. If you want any snacks besides sugary stuff, best to bring some (or plan to stop).

ParticipantI’ve registered for the Honeycrisp ride. Last year’s ride was a lot of fun with the added surprise of the cider mugs swag at the end of the ride.

ParticipantThis is an open invitation to stop off at my house after the ride for my annual brats & beers party. Party starts after the cider ride. Address is 5019 Oglethorpe Street, Riverdale Park MD 20737. Tons of food, bikes, and brews!

ParticipantI was ecstatic when they announced the date for it! My birthday is the middle of next week, so I’m treating it like my rolling birthday party! 😮 I’m doing the Honeycrisp ride and will have party hats! If you see me, ask for one!
After signing up of course, I found out that my in-laws were coming to town, so I’m aiming for an earlier start. Hopefully that should let me do the ride and get lunch and a drink at the after party, but then I have to take off.

ParticipantI’ll be riding in from Fairfax to the ride and am looking for a good way through DC. I don’t ride much in DC and am hoping someone can advise me if there’s a better route or warn me if my current route is suicidal:

I can come in via any of the Potomac crossings if that’s a better choice. Thanks for your advice and I hope to see some familiar faces tomorrow!

Looks fine to me, traffic is usually pretty light on early weekend mornings so you shouldn’t have many issues. Alternatively, use the Mall to get across town, then head north from the Capitol and hop on the 1st St. NE cycletrack and follow that to the MBT.

ParticipantYeah I’d do this instead:
https://www.strava.com/routes/6952527or cross memorial and ride straight shot east through the various paths along the mall. I’d still head up to the trail via going by union station instead of cutting west-east through the city
