ParticipantIs it just me, or are the cracks in the W&OD between Little Falls and Washington expanding in size by the day?

ParticipantThe hotter and more humid it gets, the more wackos I encounter……….
Was biking this morning on the part of the Rock Creek Trail that goes by the Zoo and I came upon a woman just calmly sitting right on the trail with headphones on.
She said “Hi” to me and I said “Not a good idea to be sitting on the trail”……….
Maybe the heat and humidity just addles their brains or something…………..

ParticipantThree large warning signs were blocking the east bound lane of the Custis this morning. I’ve written an email to trails — anyone else to cover?

Then I’d include des@arlingtonva.us since they get to tell the road construction people what to do.

ParticipantThe flooding has started. Four Mile Run rose very fast between van Buren St and Wilson Blvd. The Madison Manor crossing is flooded as is the Wilson underpass. That happened in less than 20 minutes and there had been very little rain along that stretch of the W&OD, it’s coming from further west. The NWS shows no rain so far at National Airport, but Dulles had eight-tenths of an inch in about and hour by 6 pm. Heed the flash flood warnings!

ParticipantWhat fun this morning! By 5:30 the Wilson underpass on the W&OD was about three feet deep. Then heading over to Crystal City from Ballston around 7:45, the W Glebe and Mt Vernon Ave underpasses were flooded about six inches deep. On the MVT just north of the Memorial Bridge underpass the Potomac had come over its banks and a 30 foot section of the trails was flooded about four inches deep.

ParticipantThere was water running first across and then beside the CCT, near the sewage plant. I tried not to think too much about whether it was just water, or …

Participantthe stream valley trail system in fairfax is a non-starter. hopefully people weren’t planning btwd rides on it. the stretches of a couple of trails I saw from bridges were feet under fast-moving water.

ParticipantThe perpetually clogged drain on the Custis just east of Spout Run was clear this morning and no puddle, but just a bit further east–right before the sharp left at Lee Highway–there’s a down tree blocking the trail.
