ParticipantFortunately the evening commute will be at low tide. (5:38 PM = low tide at Washington Channel)

ParticipantThe Custis puddle was still there. And I’d say 6″ deep. I’ve emailed people, but not the right people — I’m hoping the people I emailed pass it along. Does anyone know the right way to report it? Over / under on when it’s fixed.

I responded to your email–I think trails@ArlingtonVa.us address is the best place to start with any trail issue here in Arlington.

ParticipantThe button to get the traffic light to change on the Georgetown Branch Trail eastbound at Jones Mill Road has been broken for several weeks now. Anyone know the proper authorities to report this to?

ParticipantCustis Trail and N. Adams (at this spot the drain clogs every year)

I sent a note to trails@arlington about the spot on the custis – but then again I send a note every year about this spot. The drain is defective – and the design is defective. Pooling water should be allowed to simply spill over the side if the drain is not going to drain.

It was deep enough this morning to soak my shoes even when I coasted through with pedals at 3 and 9 o’clock.

ParticipantWent down through Rock Creek Park this afternoon.
Beach Drive south of the Park Police station was closed to cars. I went through there cautiously and the creek was like a roaring, muddy torrent. There were some vehicles basically just cleaning up mud and huge sludge puddles. It will probably be re-opened soon.
Rock Creek Trail is pretty messy. The bridge at Pierce Mill is roped off and some parts of the path there were broken up. You can just cross the road tho and go around the party pavilion on the other side of the road and get back on the trail. From there there are a few mud / sludge trail washout parts and then when you get to the next bridge, it’s pretty much blocked with tree limbs and debris. I took a shortcut around that section tho and got back on the trail. More muddy patches esp. right near the Zoo entrance (which was closed).
So I guess it’s kind of doable, but in bad shape.

ParticipantHow terrible would it be if one were to play about on the Lake Fairfax trails post-work tomorrow?

ParticipantI’d guess the trails would still be pretty soggy

Maybe it will force them to rebuild some of that trail that they’ve been dragging their feet on.

ParticipantPrince George’s trail system still a bit gummy tonight.

ParticipantMVT was mostly dry in the evening, from the 14th St. Bridge (George Mason) to the Crystal City connector. A few small puddles here and there, but nothing worse than an inch deep.

Those people messing around right there should GTFO of that water. There are a few deep cofferdams in that area that are full of water due to the flooding. I am also fairly sure that they lowered the rebar forms for the pilings down too. So, basically, you have a deep ass pit with a steel rebar jungle gym in it. That is a serious recipe for disaster if somone were to walk into the cofferdam.
