Saw the snow blower machine in falls church on the W&OD so hopefully it should be cleared all the way to vienna by tonight.

Was out walking the dog this morning and encountered the W&OD snow blower at the shelter just west of mile 9.5.

Right. But it’s the shady bits that’ll get you when you least expect it…!

Yes that’s it! Unfortunately it didn’t do much good over the route 7 bridge.

Just a note from my shoveling work and Arlington loop ride on Monday. I saw more cross-country skiers out all day than I saw cyclists. I was clearing part of the Ohio St access trail to the W&OD when two of the skiers came up (about noon). I had seen one about a half an hour earlier take that access and turn around when she got to 4 Mile Run Dr. The snow plow had been there early, about 5:30 am as the snow started to slack off. I was only shoveling about half of the width of the access trail from the rail fence, leaving the ski tracks untouched. The skier still complained in general about the snow shovelers having cleared the sidewalks before she could finish her skiing.

I saw 5 skiers out on Monday. It was cool to talk to them a bit.

Wow. The W&OD is clear from Lee Hwy all the way to Hunter Mill Rd. Even the bridges have a wide track, with the exception of Citizens’ Bridge, which has a very narrow track, but it’s also mostly slush. It was a fun ride.

Memorial bridge sidewalk, Washington Blvd. sidewalk, 4 MRT under 395, and WOD from Shillington to Westover all clear. WOD bridges have 2 truck tire – wide trenches.

Too bad they seem to be figuring out how to keep the bike lanes and trails clear just as spring is starting. I imagine they’ll have forgotten again by next winter.

Has anyone been on the Georgetown Branch Trail? Since it never gets plowed, and isn’t paved, it tends to be the last thing to clear. I’m trying to figure out whether it will be passable for a Thursday breakfast run.

Maybe! Was that you I spoke to about how long the signal at Gallows takes to change?
